Apparently so. Just to put some closure on this, I have email tracking and someone on his end did open the mail I sent him. I am assuming it was he. No response was sent.
So, hopefully, he'll rejoin us at some point.
Ben,
I am concerned after hearing this. I will gladly contact him via email but if you have done so already without a response...
I'll let you know if I hear anything. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I agree. There has been no hostility here. Everyone is welcome to agree or disagree with what they deem to be a viable candidate for this release. I think everyone has put in a favorable or negative comment while being respectful to each other's opinons.
Sony never stated this. I suppose they will keep on being released as long as they continue to sell.
We did do price watching here. I think $80 was my bottom price and it never got that low. According to camelcamelcamel, the lowest price it reached was $90.83 on Amazon.
Okay, but Fox always had distribution rights on Home Video and the latest Blu-ray release was done by Criterion. However, I am sure you are aware of that so we are mostly on the same page here.
I am guessing it's more a retailer thing. It gives retailers the time to decide how much product they wish to order and enough time frame to get them in stock and ready for sale.
This was the biggest head-scratcher for me. I would not consider this film anything remotely close to a classic.

So hard to say. It took over a year for just one title from Volume 1 to be sold as a single 4k release. That title is DR. STRANGELOVE and to date, it's the only title that has seen a solo disc release.
My gut tells me, yes, these will see individual releases but you'll wait more than a year...
From what I understand (and I may get this wrong) it's the Director cut but not the extended cut. Offhand, I know it's missing the Lee's Reprise. I had a long talk with Ted Wilkinson about the digital release and what is missing from the longest cut available on the Blu-ray.
EDIT: Looked...
It's very expensive if you are not interested in all the films being offered, which I imagine a lot of people aren't.
If there were six solid films that I felt would really benefit from the 4k treatment to want to upgrade, then absolutely, worth it.
"1776" is available in 4k digital...
...but here is where Sony screwed up with that...
They only offer the theatrical cut. The hugely anticipated extended cut they went out of their way to offer to fans as had been requested for years on end is non-existent in that format. Sony could have...
...and were some of these on the list of titles Sony wanted feedback on a year or two ago when considering the future of their 4k output?!
I mean, who gave them feedback that they wanted to see THE SOCIAL NETWORK in glorious 4k UHD?
I am not here to crap on these Sony mega box releases. I know how many people enjoy them.
My personal take however is that the sets are very, very expensive and would normally be a huge draw if the films offered weren't all over the place.
There could be up to five really good titles and then...
