    M1/M2 Mac Observations.

By the way... It finally occurred to me that I should apologize to all of you... The answer to my issue was right in front of my face. I am using a friggin' beta release. Of course, there are going to be issues with memory and swapping. I am already reading on other Mac groups that there...

Thank you as always, Man, for the detailed response. This is happening on my 64GB M1 Macbook Pro but not on my other devices. I think have the most stuff going on this particular laptop and that's why. I see no performance issues. I just happened to look for no particular reason and saw the...

I thought I would ask the experts as this stuff still baffles me from time to time This is showing almost 33GB of Free Memory Why is there swap memory going on and is it considered sufficient? I thought swap memory only happens when you run out of Ram memory.

I don't know why anyone would suggest that these hubs don't work with M1/M2. I did forget to mention the added expense of having to get a TB4 cable. In my case, prior to buying the Studio, I needed a 6' cable which was very, very expensive. There was no room on my desk for the Macbook Pro...

Hi, John! Looks like you found the perfect hub based on your needs. And, I love CalDigit hubs. They are a great company. I have two of their hubs, one of which is still running strong after (at least) 6 years. And I see what you mean about the layout. It's kind of all over the place...

I have had both drives for four years, used on multiple computers with no issues. I have no fear of them failing me at this point outside of age. However, for someone new looking for a backup drive, I would look elsewhere based on that report.

I have two of these drives. One is for SuperDuper backup on my Macbook Pro (I don't use Time Machine on that computer) and the other is for the Mac Studio (where I do use for Time Machine)

8GB just doesn't cut it for anything above general use. Congrats on your new purchase, John!

Surprisingly, knowing an M2 Studio may be out shortly doesn't bother me. I was watching a video about lackluster M2 sales due to the fact that the M1 was such a revolutionary step over Intel while the M2 is only an incremental one. Some say Apple made their M1 chip too powerful. Yes, I got...

    M1/M2 Mac Observations.

Interesting reading, John. The only part that I can relate to is the memory. Apple, naturally, will never come out and tell consumers this but it has become quite apparent... M1/M2 memory demand is vastly different than Intel. 64GB is overkill. I don't even exceed 32GB on a normal basis and...
