Reed,
Thanks for the lab experimentations.
There is too much wiring for me to have to do a direct reroute from my Panny to my projector.
I would definitely be more inclined to go the extra mile and do the rewiring if not for the fact I have a backup 3D player.
Interesting if your...
No, I never repeatedly tried to play it after the first couple of rejections. Then, once I read that a few other people were having the same problem with that particular disc I just pawned it off on being a UB820 issue.
So, this is potentially good news for Tino.
I will also bring up that I and quite a few others had problems with Sony's 4k bonus disc of "1776" playing in the UB820.
Without a secondary player, your options are to return the disc as defective.
I don't know how widespread the playback issue is on the UB820, but having two members on this forum report similar playback issues, I would say chances are great you might experience the same problem.
Please keep...
Watched the 3D Blu-ray yesterday.
To start with, my Panasonic UB820 wouldn't play the 3D disc. I received an incompatibility error at startup and then the disc kept spinning inside and would not eject. After unplugging, I was able to force an eject.
Now, to be fair, I haven't updated the...

I preordered from BestBuy last week. There was a charge that appeared on my credit card statement as PENDING. Took a few days, but the charge disappeared.
So, at least for me, BestBuy isn't solidifying the charge until the shipping date.
I don't know about that one. First time I have heard that scenario.
I can say that the only reason Disney is putting this out in 3D is because of Cameron's involvement and most likely, his insistence.
Disney wants nothing to do with 3D so I definitely cannot see them pressing more discs than...
Malcolm,
You are right that Disney will keep printing discs if the demand is there.
However, the 3D market is already limited. The minority of people with equipment to view these discs will snatch them up on day one. However, once that's done, it's not like there will be a continued demand...
I have a pending charge on my credit card. I am hoping it disappears in the next day or so as I expected from all the online information I received, that Best Buy does not charge your card until ship.
..and I seem to remember it being widely available.
If I remember correctly, it was released at the height of the 3D home explosion. I know that there were a lot of demo discs from 3D display manufacturers that featured clips from the movie, so I know it was being heavily promoted.

Thanks for that information, Brian. That's just currently over $70 before shipping charges. I am guessing roughly the same price if you bought both versions separately here in the U.S.
I don't think I mind that. However, for the extra bandwidth they gained, they could have put Atmos on the disc.
Of course, perhaps, Disney probably used Atmos exclusively on 4k to prompt 3D fans to buy two copies of the film.
Those of us buying the 3D version over 4k are getting screwed on not having Dolby Atmos included.
The 4k UHD will have Atmos. The 3D Blu-ray will have 7.1 audio. The Blu-ray will have 5.1 audio.
