UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

Wes, I don't have the numbers on this. I can't say you are right or wrong. However, even 25% seems very low. I have seen streamed movies in 4k that look almost indistinguishable from the disc. That's coming off of iTunes on an Apple TV, which is known to be the best streaming device.

Where exactly are you pulling that number from? Where is that stated as fact? It seems like an awfully low number.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

As someone fine with this release... I would go with the grainy restoration. I believe that the home presentation should reflect what the film was intended to look like. However, this is what Cameron wanted to do. It is his decision and no matter how much we protest, he's going to reimagine...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

I watched ALIENS yesterday. It was a bit of a shock from the first few frames of the film seeing the Fox logo look cleaner than I had ever seen it before. Yes, very apparent that this film has been "reimagined" from what it should look like. No, I'm not supportive of James Cameron doing this...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

Hi Josh! I disagree with some of this, though I am not in a position to know if we, the forums and its collectors, did or didn't keep up our end of things. I tend to think we did. I'll use the three Cameron releases as an example. Yes, there are a lot of complaints about the transfers but in...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

Yup! When the Internet was young, the studios paid close, special attention to everything that was said on the Internet. They courted reviewers and forum members because they wanted positive feedback in the new medium. Today, it's all noise. Everybody and their Grandmother has an opinion and...

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

Absolutely agree! Better to watch a film and get caught up in it than pour over a screengrab of imperfections that won't get noticed. I have said this endlessly...I do not like the concept of studying screenshots.

UHD Review A Few Words About A few words about...™ - Aliens -- in 4k UHD

Stephen, I have been vehemently against screencaps for judging a film's appearance for as long as these websites that thrive on it have been around. They do create discourse in advance of a disc release and there have been numerous times that the negative hype was proved to be wrong.
