Well, I am now regretting not having spent ~$500 to fix the display’s pealing outer layer on my 2013 MacBook Pro and hung on it for 18 more months. I could have gotten an 8TB SSD, superb speakers and a more reliable/better keyboard for a similar price to what I spent for the 4TB 2018 MacBook...
I use Siri on a daily basis, telling our HomePods what to play, telling my iPhone who to call or dictating a text message to send. Ask for directions. I’ll even ask for the time, via my AirPods if I can’t see my watch due to what I’m carrying at the moment
Actually, Apple's best selling laptop is the MacBook Air. A new form factor MBP isn't the world's most crucial news. I will bet it is still using an Intel CPU.
My guess: Apple will release an ARM (A13X Bionic or A14 Bionic) CPU MacBook Air next year, and for that, there absolutely will be an...
Gruber: yes, the products will be released, no, there won't be an event.

As we know, one thing that has been already announced for 2019, the MacPro and monitor, will be released unless Apple explicitly announces a postponement. So would they release the MacBookPro in 2019 separately from the MacPro?
In other words the announcement I am looking for is the MacPro...
The problem isn’t the price of the stand or the monitor- it is that Apple didn’t *also* release the exact same retina monitor it uses in the non-Pro iMac as a $1,000; 27” Apple Cinema Display.
Nobody would complain- people could buy it as an external display for MacBooks or MacMinis, or people...
In fact, you can have 4 spinning HDs in the new Mac Pro - same as the old one, and probably be much quieter by comparison - the new big slow fans have are superb. Don't even ask the price, but I have a feeling that by the time its out OWC will have much more reasonable priced internal storage...

“Brooks said that sound from the new Mac Pro under a desk measures around 10 decibels, making it quieter than an iMac Pro or the current Mac Pro on a desk, which he said are both already "virtually silent" at around 12 decibels. ”
So this I really didn't realize - looks like the new MacPro can be a full fledged replacement for the up to 2012 Cheese Grater. Yes, price may be daunting, but if I were to add up all the disk drives, etc. spending on my Mac Pro for the last decade, it probably adds up to at least as much as...
Everything you say is true, and I am a dedicated OWC user, the PCIe internal boot drive SSD in my 2009 Mac Pro comes from them.
My problem with external drives are reliability, (poor) support and noise. If Apple was also offering their own branded external box which would be covered under...
My main disappointment: they *still* haven't upgraded Apple Maps to include bike lanes/directions, which Google Maps already had when Apple Maps was first introduced. All their other Apple Maps improvements, including the ones they just announced have been fine, but considering how important...
Right, SSD didn’t exist on Macs until a couple of years later. But two things have happened in the last decade - the size/price of spinning HDs has gone up/down. The existence size/price of SSDs has gone up/down.
But while it makes absolute sense for HDs to be retired in favor of SSDs for the...
Re new Mac Pro:
The bad (if expected) news for me is storage capacity. First, storage was not even mentioned in the spoken portion of keynote. Their default (lowest priced, $6K) Mac Pro will ship with a 256GB SSD! We are talking way smaller capacity than the default 2009 ($2k) Mac Pro had, 1TB...
Clearly Apple would release an ARM developer only Mac, 6 to 12+ months in advance. But IMO there is ZERO chance they would put it on the future hardware. Weren’t the Intel dev. machines like Dell equivalent boxes running Mac OS X? IIRC they certainly did not use the Mac Pro which stayed the...
