My recommendation would be to not sweat the continuity or motivations or cameos because they've all been set up in other TV shows and movies (which is totally fair). You'll be able to see who the good guy is and who the bad guy is and follow the plot so just sit back and enjoy the Sam Raimi...
I didn't even think of it that way but good point. I see why the movies went with the established 616 universe but that's the comic books' world so arguably, the movies should be a different universe.
Fair point on Strange not knowing him but I still think the line is there to explain to the audience rather than showing that Mr. Fantastic- one of the smartest men in the Marvel universe- is too dumb to know that he shouldn't tell a deadly enemy the way they're going to kill her.
In the reality of the movie, he's talking to another character but he isn't saying anything that she doesn't already know. He's speaking the dialogue so the audience knows what's happening.
In the alternate dimension's characters' (and the filmmakers') defense, wouldn't she have known of the Black Bolt of 'our' dimension so she'd have known his abilities and how to defeat him already? I think it was exposition to make sure that the audience knew what was happening.
Yeah, I didn't see WandaVision and I didn't have a problem either. No doubt there was stuff that went right past me and the people that did see the show got more out of the movie than me but I could still follow the movie's story.
I saw it in 2-D but I think it would probably look pretty good in 3-D because there's a number of scenes with alot of elements flying around shots or lots of things in the fore, mid and back ground.
At this point, I'm only watching the Marvel movies because I've seen the others so I'm not the average fan but I liked it because it was a Sam Raimi movie. The very few Marvel movies where the style of the director comes through (like James Gunn's and Taika Waititi's) tend to be the ones that I...
I would think so but 1.) Marvel does a great job of recapping necessary info in each movie and 2.) Jake sure as hell knows more about it than me so go with his thoughts.
I'm just excited to see Sam Raimi finally making another movie. It's been 9 or 10 years since Oz The Great And Powerful. Also, I'll presumably get to see Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi in a major picture again.
At the nearest AMC with a Dolby Cinema and an IMAX, they have two 3-D screens (neither are IMAX or Dolby). Even the small AMC around me has one 3-D screen.
Also, the AMC app lists the movie's run time at 2:06 and I hope that's right. If it's not the right time, theaters are screwed in terms of...
Yeah, the AMCs around me are selling them. It took about a minute to get to a seating chart and I assume that the site will crash as soon as people widely find out that they're available.
Not coincidentally, Marvel just put out a reprint of Doc's earliest appearances called Mighty Marvel Masterworks: Doctor Strange- Volume 1. There's also Thor and Black Panther volumes timed with their movies later this year too.
That seems reasonable to me. My guess is that they're not going to risk confusing a mainstream audience that might not remember or might have never seen the X-movies so I can't imagine that there is anything too deep from those in Dr. Strange. I'd be really surprised if you need to know any more...
Yeah, I think riots would nearly break out if Disney or Kevin Fiege even suggested they were considering the option of putting an intermission in a movie.
I assure you that I did. :) I will say that Avengers did have the advantage of moving from one group of characters to another and that kept things moving but once a "popcorn movie" starts going over 2 hours or 2:15, it just starts to feel endless to me even if it's still working. Clearly, I'm in...
I just watched the trailer (something I don't normally do) but where were all the characters that you guys said are in there? I saw a sliver of a bald head in a shot but nothing that made me think it was anyone specific.
Yeah, I'm probably forgetting something but I think the only Raimi movies that Campbell isn't in are A Simple Plan, For The Love Of The Game, and Drag Me To Hell.
I'm hoping that The Delta 88 gets noticeable placement in the movie.
I am interested in seeing any movie that adapts any of the Night Nurse comics. :) I also hope that one of Sony's Spidey spin-off movies is Hypno Hustler.
(Look them both up, they're pretty funny.)
You definitely don't want to see it but Sinister is really good.
As for horror and super heroes, there was alot of the 1970's super hero comic books that had a heavy horror influence. Blade, Morbius, Ghost Rider, Tomb Of Dracula, Man-Thing, Werewolf By Night and even Moon Knight. The way Marvel...
