How about a version in which the audio track is restored to its original version, the digital glitch is gone (it is already gone on the 3D version), and the special effects wires are back. If they are going to erase all seams and exposed effects, then they would destroy the film. They didn't...
Yes, that is why I have been so vocal about this. I have written them, others have written them...no response. Here is the link to Price's interview in 1998:

I can't believe this has happened to this particular movie. It's almost unthinkable. But...
The dialogue has NOT been fixed on any of the new versions, 2D or 3D.
The digital glitch has been fixed on the 3D version only.
Ned Price promised that the altered track would not be used after the 1998 theatrical re-release, but that's not the case.
Scratches are apparent on the 2D release, but...
1998 quote from Ned Price:
“I want to stress very strongly that this track is not a replacement for the original by any means. It’s just an alternate version for theatrical release.”Read more: http://www.seneschal.net/annex/wizardofoz.html#ixzz2fmBCRX5O
Darn. She is actually not saying "Oh, Toto." She is saying the last part of the first Toto and Don't....The original line was: "Oh, Toto. Don't..." And she was wailing it. It is now: "o, Don't" and she is whimpering it. Darn shame. The rest of the track is altered in places as well. It's not...
I'm cancelling my pre-order. I don't have 3D capabilities right now, and I'm not spending my money for the same exact disc. WB knows they made a mistake, which is why they fixed the 3D version. How difficult would it have been to fix the original?
I appreciate you doing that. Sorry if I sound frustrated but I've been wanting them to fix this for 15 years now. I don't expect everyone to feel the same as I do. But it is something that I want to fight for, no matter how small it may seem to others. And I will do so in a kind manner. I will...
Thanks. I know that it is an uphill battle. But I will continue to pursue it, as this is the most protected film in history and there is no reason that it should be altered. It is clear from Price's interview that the alternate track wasn't intended to remain, and I would like to know why it...
Robert, several alterations were made for the 1998 theatrical release, including the partial deletion of one of Judy's lines. Ned Price said at the time that the alterations were not permanent. But that's exactly what they have become. Going back to the mono master would completely fix these...
This is what Ned Price said 1998 about the audio alterations that they were only for the theatrical release. "I want to stress very strongly that this track is not a replacement for the original by any means. It is just an alternate version for theatrical release." I wish that were true.
So, the original nitrate mono soundtrack is lost, so they have been using a protection element produced in 1963. What if the additional line was ultimately not used in 1939 and added back in by mistake in 1963? The same issue occurred with GWTW in 1989 when Ted Turner used bits of dialogue not...
They fixed the glitches for the 3D version. Unfortunately, if the 2D version is the same disc then the original disc is still flawed. I have new theories about Judy's missing line though.
Just saw Oz in 3D. Loved it, but it was a bit claustrophobic. On the one hand, it felt like sitting next to the cameraman on the set, in the foliage. You are definitely in Oz. But I also felt that the movie lost its epic look. The team went for a really rounded storybook look, and brought things...
No, that's not it. There's more, but I'm tired of going over it over and over. Missing frames due to a digital glitch. With each release, something else is altered. I don't care if I'm the only one who cares. At least I care.
And I've already heard that the audio alterations are still in place: Garland's line missing, additional chicken sounds, lowering of the tornado when Dorothy is in the house, music tempo change when the three friends are trying to rescue Dorothy from the witch. WB is slowly chipping away at this...
There have been a few commercials showing, mostly on ABC Family. No Blu-ray advertising though. They have been so tight lipped about this home release. Interesting that the audio has been changed on blu from Dolby TruHD to DTS-MA.
I don't have a problem with the new version. But when the original needs some fixes, and they lavish all of this on the new version, it bothers me. I don't want the current 2D version to be this way for all time. Please, WB, fix the film. Restore the missing and flawed elements back to the way...
Jack, 1998 WB remastered the film for re-release in theaters for the 60th Anniversary. The audio engineers mistakenly thought that one of Judy's lines was a stutter edit. It wasn't. It's in the original cutting continuity and she clearly yelled out "Oh, Toto! Don't..." They excised the firs half...
So, if they have fixed the 3D version but not the original 2D version, then that is disappointing that they care more about the revised version than the original.
