The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Hellllloooooooooooooooo RoundUppers!

Whew! What a week of releases! You'd think we were in that window of pre-Christmas shopping .

Wow. A couple of big release weeks coming up. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Thanks, as always, for any "likes" of the OP! Always appreciated!

And...be careful out there.

Thanks for your work, Mike. Don't Think Twice will be on its way from Amazon this week, and cheaper than listed, too, as I pre-ordered it a while ago and it has been cheaper than it currently is. That's it this week, but it's one of my favorite films this year, so I'd highly encourage rentals for those interested if you haven't seen it yet.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike

You missed a link for the regular Blu-ray review of The Secret Life of Pets which I posted a couple of weeks ago. It can be found here. Many thanks for including the others. I've been a busy bee.

Have several items coming in for review this week that haven't arrived yet, so we'll see how that transpires.

No Secret Life of Pets for me this week. My wife and I were very disappointd when we saw it in the theaers. We were hoing for a film which concentrated on the bonds between animals and humans (like represented in both the poster and trailer). Instead, it was...meh--just a string of action dequences with very little in terms of "the secret life of pets."

Instead, the only things I've got coming is Jason Bourne (which I haven't seen)...and, Howards End...which I also haven't seen.

I see nothing I really want this week. Good thing...a lot of money went to JoAnn's and Michael's this weekend. Making Christmas presents is expensive!

I will be dropping some money over at LaLaLand Records today, though...

It's worth noting that the Pixar films Best Buy is advertising are new editions that remove the DVDs from the earlier combo packs and add a Digital HD voucher, in addition to changing the artwork to focus on a single character. These mimic editions of the Toy Story films released last year at this time, as well as Finding Nemo and The Incredibles released this past summer alongside the theatrical release of Finding Dory. I bought A Bug's Life today because I had not previously owned it on Blu-ray, but left the other two alone because I bought their original Blu-ray pressings. Assuming that they follow the pattern of Nemo and Incredibles, the discs inside would be unchanged from their original releases, just in a new box and now featuring a digital copy.

In the case of Ratatouille, this actually returns the film's availability to a state more closely resembling its original 2007 pressing, which was a Blu-ray single before combo packs were invented. That one was eventually discontinued to make way for a combo pack including the DVD, which was recently discontinued, and now we're back to Blu single again, with digital.

In keeping with their "single character's face dominates the cover" pattern that they have developed for these reissues, Flick is on A Bug's Life, which makes sense; Remy is on Ratatouille; and Russell (not Carl, the protagonist) i on the new Up. I guess the marketers think a kid with brightly colored badges will sell more than an old man, but this still seems odd. Presumably, the previous editions of Up, which have all prominently featured Carl on the box, haven't struggled to sell.

Well, this is the company that "marketed" John Carter.

(No, I won't ever let them live that one down. :) )

There is a GREAT book about how Disney FUBAR'ed the marketing for John Carter, Aaron (John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood), if you haven't read it.

Just picked it up for my Kindle. Thanks for the recommendation.
