LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- comScore (NASDAQ: SCOR) today announced the official worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of January 15, 2017, as compiled by the company's theatrical measurement services.

comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Sony's 'Passengers' launched in China this weekend, delivering a strong $32.5 million thus catapulting the film into the number one spot worldwide for the frame with $38.125 overall and $237.1 million globally to date with Japan set to release the film on March 24th. Notably, 'Disney's 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' is now looking toward the $1 billion global milestone with $979.95 million in the box office bank through Sunday."
