I wouldn't mind owning an upgraded BD of "The Cowboys";
as I believe this film could visually be taken to another level.
Plus, I'm a big fan of DP Robert Surtees.
Other than that, I'm into this thread and topic.
Bottom Line: MORE JOHN WAYNE.:thumbs-up-smiley:

Universal have a stunning HD transfer of Reap The Wild Wind (it's been on TV & I still have it on my planner), it just needs a Blu-ray release...although Wayne plays a weak character in this, & that just doesn't work with John Wayne, he has to be the hero. I'd love In Harm's Way, but the only Blu activity from Paramount these days seems to be deleting titles, but I suppose that could change.

I was watching "How the West Was Won", the other evening.
The BD edition, as many here may well know, has a fantastic documentary on the history of Cinerama.
In it, they cover earlier wide-screen formats; if not prototypes; of that which led to Cinerama.
Apparently, there's a John Wayne feature that used this early wide-screen format.
Unfortunately, the title of this Black and White John Wayne was not cited
Does anyone know the name of that film?
Salvaging this John Wayne title for restoration may be a costly, Bridge-Too-Far venture;
but, nonetheless, I was intrigued by its existence.

The Big Trail? It was shot in 70mm. There's a nice Blu-ray out there.

I'll go back to the "How the West Was Won" and see if I can get my information more specific.
I'm referring to a film title far lesser known than "The Big Trail".
Will report back in tomorrow.
Nonetheless, besides that research; it would definitely not be a title that could come out within this year of 2017.
BOTTOM LINE (again): More John Wayne.

I suspect that WAC may be readily more able to fulfill our 2017 wishes.
GO WAC !!!:thumbs-up-smiley:
