New 4k master supervised by the director. Same release as recently introduced overseas.

Definitely worth a purchase!

What breed of dog appears in your new avatar? Looks like he (or she) could pretty much run your household. :)

Ron, any details? Any different from previous releases?
There are two new bonus features on the second blu-ray disc: an hour's filmed conversation from 2016 between director Michael Mann, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Christopher Nolan and a half hour filmed Q&A session with director Michael Mann at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. All the other extras from the previous release have been ported over. Picture wise, the colour palette has been regraded and the sound remastered - I purchased the UK edition and found it worth the upgrade. The European disc has been recently reviewed both on DVD Beaver and Blu-ray.com so you can check out those reviews.

Waiting for a 4K release with Atmos or DTS-X - is that release coming?
I doubt it especially if this current BD release is already derived from a 4K source. I don't know if that's the case, but even if it's not, I don't see them revisiting it again in the near future to do so.

Since I already have the first disc like others I'm going to hold off any new purchase until the inevitable 4k release.

Does this cut have DeNiro and Pacino on the screen together? ;)

This was going to be my question but I am serious when I ask.
Cause evewn though they are together in a few scenes it's never
a good in the same shot together scene.

The diner scene is all over the shoulder, shot like a tv show.

Yes, they were in the same scenes. It was the director's choice to shoot that way. It was a major Internet debate several years ago. Hence my wink.

Oh I know they were both there and I remember all the debate.
I think it's a great movie but Hate the choice to shoot that scene and another scene late in the movie.

Yeah, I also thought it was an odd choice to have two iconic actors who never work together never actually have their faces shown together on screen. He was going for a "two sides of the same coin" concept, but passing on the chance to show those two giants on the screen together -- even if just once -- was a missed opportunity, IMO.

I agree, a missed opportunity. Has Michael Mann ever commented as to why he chose to shoot that scene the way he did?
