So, some may know this already but William Friedkin's next film is a documentary about...wait for it...exorcism. That's right, about 40 years after filming The Exorcist Mr. Friedkin finally got the chance to attend his first real exorcism. He, of course, went first class when he did this going with the Vatican's head exorcist (yes, they have one or actually 300 of them) Father Gabriele Amorth...because if you are going to go to an exorcism go to a good one.
So, Friedkin was allowed to film this exorcism and now has turned this into a documentary, The Devil and Father Amorth, which is coming soon to a theater or bible study group near you.

The film captures the ninth exorcism of a young Italian woman that Father Amorth had been working with for some time but had not yet exorcised her demons. After filming this exorcism the young woman never returned to see Father Amorth for her tenth exorcism and he passed away not long after Mr. Friedkin had his own private meeting with the possessed woman.
If you would like to know more about this endeavor Mr. Friedkin wrote an article about it for Vanity Fair which you can read here:

I guess you could officially call this Friedkin's sequel to The Exorcist.
