I blind bought The Frankenstein Chronicles series 1 blu-ray at Amazon Germany and I'm really enjoying it. There's a UK blu-ray too, but when I bought this, the German one was significantly cheaper. It has an instance here and there where there are unremovable subs translating writing on screen to German, but that isn't often at all.
The series is a police procedural about an investigator looking into bodies that turn up stitched together out of parts of multiple bodies. Lots of stuff about dissection of cadavers in medical school and body snatchers- like a cross between Burke and Hare and Frankenstein. Very much in the same vein as Ripper Street. The acting isn't as good as Ripper Street, but the story is very engaging and a lot of fun. Great locations and photography. The blu-ray looks and sounds very good. Worth getting if the subject appeals to you.
I hear there is a season 2, but it isn't out on home video yet.
