Next Generation Dirac Live Platform at CES 2018
Sweden's Dirac Research will showcase a new version of its Dirac Live Platform at CES 2018. The new version of the pioneering room correction platform will include an updated UI, improved performance through a new algorithm, simplified setup, and support for multiple languages. The updated software is expected to launch in Q1 of 2018. Meanwhile, CES attendees will be able to give the pre-release version a whirl in Las Vegas in January.
The upgrades to Dirac Live come as a result of user input/feedback and technology advances, and will apply to all the product's markets, including home theater, stereo hi-fi, professional studios and automotive. Niklas Thorin, Dirac's general manager of high performance audio, says, "Dirac Live has been delivering the world's best room correction for many years now, and these updates broaden the market and deliver user-requested features including support for Spanish, French, Mandarin and Japanese languages, a new, more user-friendly interface and configuration process, and an even more advanced algorithm that ensures improved performance."

Perhaps most revolutionary is the hugely simplified setup process from one which had historically required a user to indulge in a fairly technical process - with base knowledge required - to one with a guided process that confirms that the user is taking each action correctly. An associated mobile app is also designed 'so intuitively' that those with no technical expertise can correct a home theater setup with ease.
Additionally, the new Dirac Live algorithm will measure speakers in pairs, rather than each stereo speaker, as in earlier versions. Dirac claims this will assist with improved staging and imaging, as a pair's phase responses are matched to each other.
In Q3 of 2018, Dirac Research will introduce a new product development model for this second generation platform, by annually offering 'modules' that will enable users to customize their Dirac Live platform, based on specific usage requirements and the market application itself.
