Peerless-AV 'PeerAir' Wireless HD System
Peerless-AV of Illinois has introduced a next generation version of its Peerair Wireless HD Multimedia System, which allows users to wirelessly stream HD (1080p) multimedia signals when running wires is not an option. The HDS-WHDI100, priced at $299, has been upgraded with numerous features to 'enhance the user experience', allowing for an easy installation and superior signal transmission.
Complete wireless coverage can be achieved with the use of external directional antennas and 802.11n technology, which should provide a 'reliable and robust' signal capable of penetrating 'multiple' walls, floors and ceilings. The upgraded product also features a new metal case design (see pictures). An easy plug-and-play installation, augmented by an IR extender for the receiver, ensures a clean aesthetic, as the receiver can be stored out of sight.
Although targeted partly at corporate and education customers, Peerless-AV considers its biggest bang will be felt by consumers in residential settings mainly because TVs in bathrooms, kitchens and other tough-to-wire locations in the house will no longer require messy and costly drywall incisions to both run and hide HDMI cabling. Furthermore, the PeerAir transmitter will feature an HDMI pass-through, allowing source devices to display content on a local hardwired TV, which could obviate the need for an extra cable box, and will result in a corresponding cash-saving for consumers.
Although Peerless-AV manufactures and distributes a number of products for rental and staging markets, as well as custom integration, it also produces a number of plug-and-play products for direct consumer use.
