I saw in the rules that I just read that there is a prohibition on bumps (which I would take to mean that the poster is simply posting it either to raise the post count or to reactivate a long-unused thread). Does that mean that I am prohibited from bumping up any other way (which, to me, would imply not just bumping for the sake of it [IOW, just saying "bump"], but actually saying something substantial in the post that I put up to bump a thread to the top)?

Hi Ben,

This is a pretty old rule actually, we just had to have folks re-acknowledge for that darn GDPR regulation in the EU.

It just means to not be spammy. By all means, please feel free to reply to threads any time, just don't do it needlessly.

Thanks for the confirmation on that-- just needed to know how that worked!

Thank god for the vigilant Europeans to protect us from the horror of thread-bumping.
