This film has such a troubled release history that I'm not going to hold my breath for anything different than what we've already been given. I would LOVE to be proven wrong!

There's a 4K version available on iTunes that looks quite good. I'd imagine the disc would be from the same master.

I still have my SE DVD since the BR did not get good reviews, I will wait to see reviews on the 4K UHD hopefully a thumbs up.

Has anybody seen the new iTunes streaming version? If so, how is it? Is it brighter than the first Blu-ray? Do the colors match the first Blu-ray or the second? Some are saying it is the DNR version but before they applied the DNR. Others say it is an all-new version.

That would be great, but unfortunately Twentieth Century Fox Germany say that the UHD set contains the existing 1080p Blu-ray discs, no remastered discs based on the new 4K transfers.
The argumentation is a slap in the face of every truly movie enthusiast.

They say the Ultimate Hunter Editions have so many fans, because of the complaints about the heavy graining of the first release and the DNR that solve this "problem". And that was the reason because they use this again and don't make a new 1080p Blu-ray.

Uns ist bekannt das einige Fans das aktuelle Blu-ray Master kritisch sehen. Durch den Einsatz von Rauschfiltern verhindert das Blu-ray Master nun einmal einen sehr „filmkörnige“ Projektion des Films. Das gefällt vielen und einige möchten lieber einen grobkörnigeren Look. Das ist Geschmackssache, speziell wenn man diesen Kultfilm sehr mag. Das frühere Blu-ray Master ist zum Vergleich bei mehr Fans in Ungnade gefallen, weswegen ja die „Ultimate Hunter Edition“ neu remastered wurde. The UHD disc and UHD streaming will both be from the new master. The 1080p disc is not from the new master which is fine by me, give the nod to the UHD discs to drive the format.

Be warned it's the exact same as UHE, only with grain. So it looks wrong in all the same places the UHE looked wrong, (like the dusk scene where Dutch is covered in mud on the border of the river, now being like a day for night shot). Also the opening credits have been remade, with a font which is similar, but not spots on.
The UHE was made to make the film look like Avatar (it came out 6 months after) to convert it in 3D so that the Avatar fury might profit it as Predator is an influence on how the jungle scenes appear in Avatar.
In a weird way, what happened to it, with the degrained Blu-ray release, is exactly what happened to T2 recently for the same reasons.
