ctva.biz It's probably too soon to worry.

But, just in case, the Classic TV Archive site is archived at: web.archive.org

I tried to post a link but it didn't work, but if you go the web.archive.org site and put ctva.biz in the search spot, at top right, and pick archived web sites from the drop down menu you should get it. I did. I don't know how complete it is, but it is there.

I'm becoming more and more concerned as each day passes and CTVA stays down/away. I had hoped it was just a glitch, but not so sure any more. One thing's for sure: if this isn't just a glitch and we've actually lost this site, it will be a monumental loss in my opinion. There was no more thorough a repository for vintage TV.

Gary "anyone have legit information on what has happened?" O.

I wote to the CTVA email address a couple of weeks ago and today received this reply. Frankly it doesn't help much.

Hello, I have been a major contributor to CTVA since 1998 maybe even earlier. (Rina Fox) Des has said that because of the problem he did not want to have to upload all the guides to a new site. So I still don't have any further info. I submitted several new guides none of which are even on the net from my research but unfortunately they are in limbo. I see that there's stunt co-ordinator how funny since one of the shows is a very obscure one called "Danger is My Business" which ran for 39 episodes in 1958-59.

US Documentary Series

39 episodes 1958-59 x 30 min

[Newspaper article from Beatrice Sun January 26, 1959]

Life too tame? Try shooting video film by Dick Kleiner
"You'll often hear adventurous young man of today complaining that the world is currently too tame. Please suggest to any such young man that he become a TV cameraman, post haste.
As evidence, conside these excerpts from a letter from Jeb Gholson, who's in Vietnam filming an episode for the "Danger Is My Business" TV series. The letter arrived in New York after the producers hadn't heard from Gholson for three weeks and were beginning to worry a bit.
"Didja ever go sailing in a rice paddy? Well, I did - at 60 mph in a Land Rover, after missing a turn on a wet night. Took four oxen to pull us out. I came out pretty good on this venture, considering all that occurred. All I got was a wrenched shoulder from the auto wreck, a pair of swollen ankles from leech bites and a bull-headed dose of malaria."
"Those damn tigers must have smelled my big feet because they wouldn't come even close to the bait day or night."
"On the way back I got chopped on the knob by an amorous gibbon, the only wild monkey I saw. I managed to grin off two feet on him back-lit, using a hand held 3" lens ... great stuff."
"I can't tell you how it happened, but one of the elephants was charging straight for us. I barely had time to raise my camera when Nghia dropped to one knee and calmly let that bull have it right between the eyes with that .458 mag elephant gun at about 10ft range. I seriously doubt whether there is anything on film of that charging elephant.
Tell Alex I'm sorry about the reflector wobble on the charging elephant stuff.
The films are now here and the program "Tiger Hunt" will be shown in a few months. As for Gholson, he's now shooting an episode on piracy off the Chinese Coast.

It is very concerning. IMDB is chock full of wrong information and if you click on a show on epguides, it sends you to a site, TV Rage, which has no information on anything. I use CTVA constantly.

If any of you want any specific info on a program just let me know and I'll delve into my old tvguides or newspapers.
I love the stories behind the scenes of television shows and as you can probably tell especially the humble beginnings of television.
During my time submitting to Des' site I have encountered numerous emails from writers, directors, producers, actors, relatives from these programs with stories.

Fantastic news about the site being back up. I had almost resigned myself to not having it as my only real go-to source. It really is the only solid one around.
