Off to a good start based on Thursday previews (from BOMojo):

Warner Bros. and New Line's release of The Curse of La Llorona delivered a healthy $2.75 million last night from Thursday previews beginning at 6PM. The performance is ahead of the $2.1 million for the first Annabelle film as well as tops the $2.3 million for Pet Sematary just a couple weeks ago ahead of its $24.5 million opening.

I saw CLL yesterday in IMAX (thanks A-List!). It was decent enough. The movie moved along at a brisk pace, the story was simple to follow, the characters were appealing (the main woman, Lina Cardellini is a cutie, always like her), and the frights were good enough, thanks to the IMAX sound system which helped with that.

Nothing special, a C+ kind of film, but not a bad way to spend a few hours out of the house.

One funny thing - the movie is set in 1973, but you'd never know it without the caption saying so. No, there are no gaffes like having cell phones, but there is no sense of that time conveyed by the movie at all. It's basically a caption and a vintage station wagon parked in front of the house, and that's it, LOL.
