Wow, what a shock this is. I enjoyed her work for a very long time, from her days on Laverne and Shirley when I was a kid to her feature films. She was a huge talent, and, as I recall, a good friend to Carrie Fisher.

Yes, grew up loving her as Myrna Turner on The Odd Couple and went on from there. Some of her movies are among my favorites of the 1980s and 1990s.

She was taken from us far too soon. Thoughts and wishes go out to friends and family.

Another icon from my past is gone. I originally figured Penny was just lucky based on her brothers success. She proved me wrong over the years by making Laverne and Shirley what it was and then moving on to helm feature films. I loved Cindy Williams too but Penny was clearly the better actress and [IMO] Michael McKean was the breakout star.

RIP Penny. You will be missed but you've earned it.

I was so shocked to hear of her passing!
What an incredibly talented woman, from such a talented family.
I was at an antiques fair with my mom in NYC many years ago and I heard this unmistakable voice in back
of me...I turned around and of course it was Penny Marshall.
