A couple of those covers seem really familiar. I probably had them when I was a kid. But reading them as many times as I did, lying on the floor and eating (and spilling) lunch on them took a severe toll.

Hope I am not stepping on your toes, Bob by posting this cover.

Plus its nice seeing the Warner Western stars in Color.

Well, as long as you didn't clip ads or coupons or rip pages out.

I've had two runs recently I had to find a new issue for because someone ripped out a coupon or a pin-up on a story page.

Cheyenne Dell Comics had 25 issues, published between 1956 and 1962. Bronco never had a separate Dell title. But the Bronco character took over the Cheyenne comic for three issues when Clint Walker went on strike during the 1958-59 TV season.

Bronco didn't even get the byline in his own stories, in the Cheyenne magazine.

There was at least one UK Bronco magazine that was about 100 pages and reprinted two of the Dell comics stories. Bronco got the byline in these.

The UK magazine had text Bronco stories with some illustrations, plus, western lore, games and Bronco pinups.

This is Dell Maverick #18, the next to last issue. It has Robert Colbert inserted on the cover. But the tall dark stranger with Bart Maverick in the stories is referred to as Bret, not Colbert's Brent Maverick. Makes you wonder if Dell thought Colbert was actually replacing James Garner as Bret.

Robert Colbert only appeared in two episodes as Brent Maverick, but there are a lot of publicity stills around.

The COLT .45 Dell comic book was published for nine issues from 1958 to 1961. The last four issues were on sale after the last network rerun was shown in September,1960.

The photo covers and some samples of the interior story and feature art plus some stills. The front and back slick covers were in color and the interior cover pages were in black and white. Sometimes there would be an ad in color on the back cover or a color feature or a one page story. (Click to enlarge.)
