Front ported bookshelf speaker (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for a front ported bookshelf speaker for our family/TV room. They will sit on a 1x12 shelf, and need to sound good for home theater and music.

Budget about $200.

One possibility is the Polk RT1A1.

ELAC Debut B5.2 or B6.2. Much, much better than Polk. You can get the B6.2 pretty close to your budget with some bargain hunting,

It sounds like you're down on all Polk speakers. Or are you just referring to the RT1A1 ? It gets very good reviews.

I have personal experience with both. There isn't even a comparison. FWIW, since you mention reviews of the Polk, have you checked out reviews of the ELACs? There's probably never been a speaker in that price range that has been as highly regarded as they are.

I have, but I don't think I want to spend $300

You can get them for $230, sometimes less.
