This was a strange patch Tuesday. First a regular cumulative update KB4524570 to 1903 was installed. You had to check for updates a second time to get the invitation to download and install 1909.

The 1909 upgrade barely took any time to install - maybe 10 minutes. Once it's installed, System / About says it's Version 1909, installed on 5/30/2019 (the date of installing 1903), OS Build 18363.476 .

Update history shows both 1903 and 1909. It really looks like MS it treating 1909 as a minor update.

Maybe this is why it took so little time to upgrade to 1909....

https://rcpmag.com/articles/2019/11/13/windows-10-windows-server-version-1909.aspx

Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909 share a common core operating system with an identical set of system files. As a result, the new features in Windows 10, version 1909 were included in the latest monthly quality update for Windows 10, version 1903 (released October 8, 2019), but are currently in a dormant/disabled state. These new features will remain dormant until they are turned on via an "enablement package," a small, quick-to-install "master switch" that simply activates the Windows 10, version 1909 features.

I recently upgraded to 1909.

Ironically, there was an abrupt hiccup with Windows "Virus & Threat Protection" over the past few hours which caused it to crash repeatedly and couldn't be restarted.

Apparently it was caused by a defective virus definition update (1.313.1668.0) earlier today. Fortunately the next virus definition update (1.313.1687.0) fixed this crashing problem.
