Legal Eagles isn't a great film. Never was.

But I was pleased to finally see it arrive on Blu.

Color and densities seem fine for an older telecine, probably c. 1951, but better than okay.

Problem is with the older telecine, which could have been attended to with stabilization, and even then not losing more than the nominal 5% projection loss.

Constant, and almost headache-inducing lateral movement, and not just a pixel or three.

It's a problem.

Image – 3.25

Audio – 5

Pass / Fail – Pass

Upgrade from DVD (c.1998) – Best not to reward the work

I liked its spirit and tone when I saw it in a sneak preview all those years ago. I haven't seen it since. Hopefully, that will be corrected in the coming weeks.

There were apparently two DVDs; only the latter one was anamorphically enhanced. So if you have the first one, the Blu-ray may still be a step up. Other reviews refer to "a few shaky frames" (Blu-ray.com) and "some brief flickering" (HTF).
