i have an older Amp, it's a Yamaha DSP AX 640 SE which I really like and I am moving house soon and want to set up a home theatre. Am I able to get DD 5.1 sound through Internet downloads through this amp and how can i achieve this as it doesn't have the usual USB connections etc. Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question but it I am not up to date with modern set ups.

I guess you mean internet streaming rather than internet downloads? I haven't heard of any AVR that actually does downloads.

Assuming you mean streaming, it’ll be a challenge without HDMI connections, which precludes using devices like Roku. However, you could do it with an older TIVO. Just make sure it has an optical digital output, as that’s what you’ll be getting 5.1 through.
