Guillermo Del Toro Announces Tales of Arcadia Trilogy Series on Netflix

Visionary filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro, who brought us Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy and Pacific Rim, has just announced a Tales of Arcadia trilogy series.

2016’s DreamWorks Trollhunters was the first installment of a three-part epic from DreamWorks Animation Television, shortly to be followed by Trollhunters Part 2, premiering exclusively on Netflix December 15th. Meanwhile, companion series 3 Below and Wizards are slated for 2018 and 2019 releases respectively.

On Monday evening during a preview screening of DreamWorks Trollhunters Part 2, creator and executive producer Guillermo del Toro announced that the world of Trollhunters will expand to become a trilogy of series called Tales of Arcadia.

In the second installment of the epic saga of DreamWorks Trollhunters, Jim Lake Jr. continues to battle to protect his hometown of Arcadia. His decision to enter the Darklands reveals startling discoveries, forcing him and his friends to face the consequences as they race to end the battle against evil.

With Netflix’s Trollhunters having been warmly received by audiences, Part 2 will feature voices of Mark Hamill, Lena Headey and David Bradley, as well as pre-recorded work by the late Anton Yelchin.

Del Toro told Entertainment Weekly, “The reality and the beauty of this is that we can continue not only the storyline and the characters, but we have a huge swath of work from Anton that allows us to continue Anton through more than half  the season.” He added, “From the get-go, even in the first season, we knew we wanted to preserve as much of the performance of Anton as possible, both from an artistic and a human point of view.”
