SnapAV launches Neeo Remote for Control4

Home entertainment and automation distributors SnapAV have released the touchscreen Neeo Remote ($600 MSRP) for the Control4 Home OS 3 platform. According to the company, the new slimline remote is the first to combine hard buttons and a touchscreen from which to control streaming, TV station access, playlists and smart home ‘scenes’.

“The modern smart home needs simple interfaces to start a movie, select a playlist, or lock a door. Neeo was expertly designed to be beautiful, and with Control4 OS 3, it’s also the easiest way for a family to enjoy entertainment in their homes,” said Charlie Kindel, SnapAV chief product & technology officer. “Neeo is a reflection of our obsession for creating the most elegant and simple interfaces for the refined smart home.”

Neeo is Swiss-designed, built from machined aluminum for durability (with silver or black finishes), and ships with a charging station. The idea is to promote the look of high-end consumer products and the three-inch high-res touchscreen supports one-touch navigation, while one charge of the unit will allow up to five days of use. Swiping right on the remote screen shows video sources (such as BD player or Dish Network) and one-touch icons are provided for the channels you watch most. There is an on-screen keypad to type in a channel number directly, too, improving the intuitive nature of the device for anyone using it in a household.

“Neeo is as easy to use as it is beautiful. It’s nice to have all our favorite stations just right there on the main screen and easily accessible. And, unlike the pile of remotes we’ve accumulated, it’s certainly not an eyesore — it’s actually a piece of technology that I don’t mind lying around for guests to see. I’m sure it will even be a conversation starter for many of our friends and family when they come to visit,” said Jennifer Reed, Control4 beta customer.

Control4 will be holding a #C4Yourself Day on November 21st from 4PM to 8PM local time at Control4 Certified Showrooms if you’re interested to see how the system works. The product is only available from Control4 dealers.
