The VIZIO(RED) TV Launched to Fight Aids in Africa

VIZIO and (PRODUCT)RED are partnering up this Fall for a special metallic red edition of the VIZIO P-Series 55″ 4K HDR Smart TV (P55-F1) to help the fight against AIDS. Product Red or ‘(PRODUCT)RED’ as it is listed, is a licensing brand set up by U2’s Bono and Bobby Shriver of the ONE Campaign to engage the private sector in schemes to raise awareness and money for the combined fights against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in African countries.

Here are some details about VIZIO and (PRODUCT)RED’s joint product/program:

The (VIZIO) RED Smart TV will be available this holiday season and a minimum of 10% of the purchase price of every VIZIO P-Series (RED) 55″ TV will go to fight AIDS. Every purchase is part of VIZIO’s commitment to provide over 375,000 days of life-saving HIV medication.

VIZIO promises that customers will experience “expansive colors, brightness, pristine 4K detail and superior HDR performance,” with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG included on the VIZIO(RED). The product’s Ultra Color Spectrum technology clams to produce over one billion colors, while UltraBright 1000 will improve contrast, depth, and brightness to the screen. The high-performance Active Full Array Pro backlight with 56 local dimming zones produces “picture-perfect” blacks.

The VIZIO SmartCast OS offers control and content streaming options with the ability to browse preferred app content providers like Netflix and YouTube on the TV itself. VIZIO’s WatchFree lets viewers stream over 100 channels free, including live news, movies, sports, comedy and music. Chromecast built-in allows the use of phones to cast content from Chromecast-enabled apps directly to the TV. Voice control is available via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and this model sports a red edge-to-edge screen design (see inset pics).
