VIZIO Announces 2018 P-Series Quantum 65inch TV for $2,100

VIZIO has announced today the availability of its flagship 2018 P-Series Quantum 65” Class 4K HDR Smart TV, featuring a bezel-less design. Dolby Vision HDR is included with Active Full Array Max backlighting for 192 zones of local dimming for ‘superb’ contrast and black levels, as well as up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Quantum Color Spectrum, meanwhile, promises to deliver a color palate of over 1 billion colors.

The P-Series Quantum also features VIZIO’s 2018 SmartCast OS for streaming and smart home functionality. The 2018 P-Series Quantum 65” Class 4K HDR Smart TV (PQ65-F1) has an MSRP of $2,099.99 and is available now at retailers such as Best Buy, Costco and Sam’s Club.

VIZIO claims that this is their brightest TV yet, and that the P-Series Quantum will capitalize on the luminance capacity of UltraBright 2000 and Dolby Vision HDR. The Active Full Array Max backlight has 192 local dimming zones to adjust to, and mimic, on-screen content. These simultaneous adjustments, according to the company, will add brilliance to bright elements in a scene while also producing the purest of black levels.

With the Quantum Color Spectrum technology, the P-Series will promote more than one billion colors to match hues and tones with cinematic color ‘closer to what the human eye sees’. A Clear Action 960 feature will reduce motion blur, giving action scenes more powerful image processing and a 240Hz effective refresh rate.

“The P-Series Quantum combines the best VIZIO picture quality technologies and wraps them in a beautifully modern aesthetic,” said Bill Baxter, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. “With up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, 192 zones of local dimming and advanced quantum dot technology, viewers enjoy the ideal blend of brightness, contrast and color for a home-theater experience that rivals the cinema. Our 2018 SmartCast OS opens the door to an expansive collection of streaming options while also allowing the P-Series Quantum to fit seamlessly into Amazon and Google smart home ecosystems thanks to voice-control support.”

Netflix, Prime Video, Vudu, iHeartRadio, Crackle and XUMO can be accessed on the TV screen using the included remote. Users can also download the free SmartCast Mobile app to turn a smartphone into a touchscreen remote. The SmartCast OS will also feature Google Chromecast built-in.

The VIZIO 2018 SmartCast OS will allow for voice-control support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, with the typical spoken commands making for on/off, channel change and volume adjustments possible, while Google Assistant users will be able to stream content to the TV.

The new TVS offer a bezel-less design, a silver styling around the perimeter and ‘minimalist’ polished aluminum legs. For more information on availability of the 2018 VIZIO P-Series Quantum 4K HDR Smart TV, visit VIZIO.com.

I'll bet the TV is a wonderful buy, but those leg supports are too far apart for my TV stand if I was ever interested in getting another 4K TV. The center stands that other manufacturers use suit my needs much better.

Rtings.com put their review up a little over a week ago. Factor in the sale that Sam's Club just started yesterday and this might be the best bang for the buck right now.
