The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Thank you, Mike!

It's easy to tell it's the fourth quarter because this is when too many movies are coming out each week for me to afford to get everything I want right away.

Therefore, Leave No Trace will wait for a price drop, not because it's not fantastic but because I know the next couple months are going to be very crowded and difficult choices must be made. I would, however, highly recommend Leave No Trace to anyone who missed it in theaters as at least a rental, and I'll be purchasing it down the road.

The one I am getting this week on release day is Sicario: Day of the Soldado. I'm a huge fan of Taylor Sherian's writing and loved the sequel. It will take its rightful place on my shelf next to its predecessor, and I'm excited to watch them both together as a pair.

Thanks for the prices, Mike!

I just received the first Sicario film on UHD today as a blind purchase. If I like it I will probably pick up the sequel when it hits the same $15 price point.

Three chilling classics this week on the eve of Halloween month: the two Kolchak movies and The Spiral Staircase. Must haves for me.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike!

I have those three titles on the way to me from Kino. I already have my DVD of each placed aside and ready to trash once I view each Blu-ray next week.

Do you mean to literally trash them? I usually give away DVDs to friends (I have lots who haven't gone Blu) in an upgrade situation.

My friends aren't into physical media except Disney stuff for their grandchildren. My family aren't interested in these particular titles.

Gotcha. It would be a shame to actually throw out perfectly good DVDs though.

I have friends who will just take a DVD from me if I tell them I think they will like it, and I'm usually pretty good at matching which title should go to which friend so they end up with something they will enjoy. I try to take some care in re-homing my old discs, although I get that that might be a bit odd.

I would second Sam's recommendation of Three Identical Strangers, which I loved in theaters. It's not a priority for me to buy because it's coming out in a very crowded month for new titles, but it's a great movie and very much worth, at minimum, a rental.

Best Buy's ad for this week, which Mike didn't get in the paper, is online now (last night when Mike posted, the link went to last week's ad and seems to have changed over at midnight.)

It is listing an insane $32.99 (!!!) price for an exclusive Sicario: Day of the Soldado steelbook. I like steelbooks, but that's just way too much for one movie under almost any circumstances. I'm sticking with my Amazon pre-order even though the artwork isn't great. At least it will match the first one, which also came in a keepcase, which it wouldn't if I got the steel version.

Nothing for me this week. I hop a plane down to Anaheim for the weekend on Friday and that trip will likely absorb all of my discretionary movie budget.
