The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k/UHD copies of The Wizard of Oz.  There’s a $5 pricing premium.  It is $29.99.

Thank you, Mike!

Them That Follow is a terrific movie that no one else seems to have seen. It's a shame that it is not getting a Blu-ray release, but I would recommend a rental to anyone interested. I will probably get the DVD sooner or later, but not right now. I'm curious to see if it may end up on Blu-ray in other countries, and I would hypothetically be willing to consider importing a region-free HD version if one were to become available. If not, I'll just end up with the DVD down the line.

Best Buy's steelbook for The Wizard of Oz is absolutely stunning, but since I'm not 4K-equipped, I don't really need it. As far as the Blu-ray format is concerned, I'm still quite happy with my 3-disc Emerald Edition from ten years go.

So, nothing for me next week...although Amazon failed to deliver a new CD release I was supposed to get yesterday, so I guess that will come next week now.

The Blob at some point. Bought quite a few horror/sci-fi titles at sales over the past couple weeks, so I'm backlogged at the moment.

I already have Matewan and Days of Wine and Roses Blu-rays in-hand. Man of a Thousand Faces has shipped so I should have that by Tuesday. I'll probably get The Wizard of Oz at some point. I'm actually seeing that film in a Dolby Cinema theater today as I've already viewed it in 4K/Dolby Vision when iTunes mistakenly had it available digitally a few months back.

Probably It's a Wonderful Life in 4K for me, unless the early reviews are terrible.

I'd pick up "Batman Beyond" down the road if they come out with a cheaper regular edition instead of that expensive box-o-crap edition.

Thanks as always, Mike!

The 4K/Dolby Vision digital of "It's a Wonderful Life" looks beautiful so I expect the 4K disc to look slightly better.

Thanks Mike! Some good titles indeed this week. Looking forward to Batman Beyond ever since I saw an early look at SDCC.

Amazon has bumped The Wizard of Oz 4K up to $22.96.

I finally got charged for my preorder overnight...I'm glad I didn't cancel it. It turns out the $19.96 preorder price was the best available for a good long time. Only downside is the disc won't arrive til Thursday and I won't be able to watch til Saturday.

Something I didn't notice earlier: Target is doing a Buy 2, Get 1 free sale again online only. It says "select titles," but the sale verbage is on every title on the first three pages of a 4k search.

Man, I've bought three sets of three already. As I stated in another thread this past month, Target has definitely increased the frequency of these "buy 2 get one free" sales.

Yeah...if I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say they're trying to move a lot of product before Christmas or as a way of clearing space to get rid of physical media in their warehouses for all time. I don't know if I'll bite on anything this time around.

I missed out on or passed on the previous two but I may have to bite this time.
