The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Thank you, Mike!

Toy Story 4 for me this week, of course. Like a lot of people, I was extremely skeptical when Pixar announced another Toy Story film, but the end result stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its predecessors. It's one of my favorite movies of the year and I can't wait to own it.

Also, although it's not a disc, I know we have a lot of Harry Potter fans around the forum so thought it's worth mentioning that there's another big fourth title being released on Tuesday: the full-color illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire with artwork by Jim Kay. His work on the earlier books is gorgeous and stunning, and I am really looking forward to seeing how he has visualized the fourth one.

Thanks, Mike, for another RoundUp, and an early one at that!

I am scheduled to review an item or two in the list, but they haven't arrived. Looking forward to seeing Toy Story 4. I didn't make it to the theater, so I'm eager now to see it.

Big week for me. I'll be picking up Deadwood, Midsommar and Toy Story 4.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

I don't want to oversell it but I think it's one of the best movies of the year.

Dear Amazon: I want to own Toy Story 4, and I will be buying it on Tuesday. Just not from you as I normally would. Disney still gets my money, you get none. Can you explain this business model to me?

Thanks for the prices, Mike. Nothing for me this week. Disney's price for Toy Story 4 is too high for me, so I will wait until it hits their streaming service to see it.

Three, not four, for me this week. No, not the silent classics from Criterion. Rather, Eureka's Three Films with Sammo Hung.
It's good to be region free.

Target is having another "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" sale this week. That's at least 3 such sales in the past couple of months. I bought several pre-orders with these type of sales.

Interestingly enough, at our local Wal-Mart on Tuesday morning at 7:45 a.m. they didn't have Toy Story 4 out yet. This seems unusual for a major release. It was "in a box in the back" and the employee "wasn't sure which box" and said "Give me fifteen minutes" to find it. This resulted in a lost sale on Wal-Mart's part; my copy came from Best Buy later in the day to avoid the wait.

You would think that Wal-Mart would make it a priority to have one of the biggest movies of the year out and on display first thing when they open on its release day. They have to expect that a lot of people will come in there for it, especially since Amazon is a non-factor with Disney releases. What does it say about their priorities regarding physical media for them not to have this easily available?

Over the last year or so, I've basically had the same thing happen to me multiple times at my local Target. If you get there before 10:30 or 11, you're waiting for them to pull it out even major new releases from a box in the back.
