The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k/UHD Blu copies of The Meg.  They also advertise the 3-D version of The Meg…but with no price.

–No other specific deals posted in this week’s Best Buy flyer.  But they want you to know they are carrying Incredibles 2 (Exclusive Steelbook of the 4k/UHD along with standard 4k and Blu-ray versions), Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (available Tuesday), Pixar Short Films: Vol. 3, Wreck-It Ralph (Exclusive 4k/UHD and standard 4k) and the Blu-ray of Christopher Robin.  All good to know, I suppose.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has some recent Blu-ray releases on sale:

$19.99:  Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

$24.99:  Incredibles 2, Christopher Robin, Stranger Things: Season 2

–Target’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

What a week!

Any week which features Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Veronica Lake and Carole Lombard is a damn good week for home video enthusiasts! :D

And topped off with Jason Statham saving the world from a prehistoric creature!

Safe shopping, RoundUppers!

Note that there is a high probability that Some Like It Hot is delayed until 11/20.

BN deliveries and website say release is 11/20 as well as Criterion.com
Even Amazon now has an updated Release day though I'm not sure if any preorders prematurely shipped like with 2001, but I've not read of any

Yes, a couple of classics on tap for this week, but it's a thankfully lesser week for me after I spent $$$$ on Criterions this past week via B&N.

Thanks, Mike!

Thank you, Mike!

I hope to get Juliet, Naked sooner rather than later, but not right now. I really loved that movie and would recommend it highly to all as a rental -- I just can't get everything at once and difficult choices must be made.

So, this week, Amazon will send me J.K. Rowling's screenplay for The Crimes of Grindelwald on Friday, and that's it.

The Meg 3D is pre-ordered and hopefully on its way for Tuesday delivery.

Price on BestBuy.com is $29.99, which seems to be the same as Amazon.

As does Amazon ...
Hello,

We have good news! One of your pre-ordered items is now eligible for release date delivery and has been upgraded at no additional charge. Your new delivery estimate is:

"Some Like It Hot (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]"

I got the same e-mail today from Amazon about Some Like It Hot.

I pre-ordered it there a month ago when the price was only $19.59.

I'll be looking to get The Meg sometime soon. And those other titles featuring Bardot, Lake and Lombard are mighty tempting.

EDIT: And then there's those Pixar shorts, too... A LOT going on this week.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Amazon version does not appear to have the digital copy and may very well not have a Blu Ray either given it is described as having one disc. I noticed this loss of value on other 3D new releases it has offered. I ordered mine from Best Buy just to be sure.

Won't know for sure until it arrives, but their description indicates it might have a code:

Meg, The (Amazon/HD3D-Blu-ray + Digital) (3DBD)

I don't use digital codes, so it doesn't really matter in my case.

I don't think there's any reason to suspect Amazon's version won't have a code. Because the code is in the general release, in order to do that, WB would have to press a special batch of copies that don't have codes specifically to be sold on Amazon. That seems like an awful lot of work for not very much return and the likelihood of annoying some people who want codes but mistakenly order the wrong thing. Conversely, if you don't want the code but get it anyway, it's just a throwaway insert which is no big deal. So they have no motive, really, to deny codes to Amazon customers.

Justice League 3D is an example. It did not come with a digital code from Amazon, whereas the version from Best Buy did. When I realized the difference, I returned the Amazon copy and purchased from Best Buy. Don’t get me wrong, I am a physical media fan first and foremost, but the digital copy is added value so I now evaluate all vendors to assure I am not being shorted as it appears Amazon was doing in this case.

Discovery is on the way from Amazon...down a lot from the original price I ordered at, so I'm happy.

Some Like It Hot is coming next week, based on Amazon. I may drop into the store to get Olaf's Frozen Adventure, but that Pixar Short Films Vol. 3 needs to drop before I bite on it.

Thanks Mike!

Yes, but a number of these Amazon releases from Warner/Warner Archives over the last 6 months have been stripped of either the 2D BD or Digital

Justice League - no digital though the original listing mentioned it and either Amazon or Warner fixed it for some people but not others.
RPO -- no 2D disc (though they had a separate listing for the release everyone else had though many of those never shipped)
Rampage -- no 2D (though they had a separate listing for the release everyone else had)

I thought Tomb Raider was affected, but I can;t find an Amazon Exclusive

That makes no sense. I don't doubt what you're saying if you've actually had experience with these titles (I haven't), but it costs more money for the studio to withhold the download to Amazon customers than to include it. That's nuts to me.

On another note, I'll pick up Olaf's Frozen Adventure from a store at some point, but I'm not going to trust Amazon on that. Nor am I going to need it as urgently as I did Incredibles 2 last week. If they're going to put that out at the price of a feature film, the least they could do is also include the Frozen Fever short on the same disc, but apparently not.

I personally don't understand the value of the Pixar shorts discs, because I already own almost all of them as supplements on their various films.

Yeah, I understand that. Though I can swallow the $17.99 price point on this for some reason. Maybe it's the rebel in me wanting to support the "short" after so many people got their knickers in a twist over it last year. As for Amazon...yeah. It's still up for preorder. If mine doesn't ship tomorrow, I'll drop into a store sometime this week to get it.

Me neither, but I'm getting it anyway at some point. I enjoy being able to put these on and just have them scroll by without having to change discs.

I'll get both of the shorts, but not until they drop to $10 or probably I'll just get them through DMC for $8-9ea at some point. I do like having the Pixar Shorts esp all on a single disc, plus V1-2 look lonely
