The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Another week of Twilight Time releases.  Some pretty high-profile titles this month—headed up by that sci-fi classic:  Gidget vs. Doctor Doolittle, for starters.  😀 They can only be pre-ordered HERE and HERE.

–For pricing particulars, Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k UHD copies of Atomic Blonde.  You will, however, pay a $5 premium for the special packaging:  $27.99 for the 4k Steelbook and $22.99 for the standard 4k release.

–Best Buy also has a big pre-holiday push on for Collectible Steelbooks.  Available now:  Highlander, Alien: Covenant, Deadpool, ID4: Resurgence, Creature of the Black Lagoon.  AND…you can pre-order EXCLUSIVE special edition steelbook at Best Buy (available 12/5 for a limited time only) of John Wick, Logan and The Batman LEGO Movie.

–You can also pre-order EXCLUSIVE Steelbook (or Sigil) packaging of Game of Thrones: Season 7 at Best Buy.

–And, n their usual cryptic fasion, Best Buy wants you to know that you can purchase Westworld: Season 1 on 4k UHD or Blu-ray at their store.  But they won’t tell you for how much.

–BB has “Top Hits” on Blu-ray on sale for $9.99 this week:

Underworld: Bloody War, Passengers and Resident Evil: Final Chapter.

–And, BB has over 15 3-D Blu titles on sale for $9.99.  Titles shown:  Assassin’s Creed, X-Men Apocalypse, ID4: Resurgence.

Atomic Blonde 4k is on its way to me this week.

I'm gonna get Doctor Doolittle eventually...although I'm reasonably sure I'm going to be disappointed by the film. I only remember seeing it on TV years ago. Outside of "Talk to the Animals" I really don't remember all that much about it.

And I've only heard great things about Wind River (including the Crawdaddy seal of approval!) so I will pick that up when it starts to appear in some sales down the road.

I have SUCH a stack of movies to watch right now (current things. Never mind about all those unwatched flicks that are sitting on my shelves...). I thought the end of baseball season would allow me to get to some of them...but life has been busy.

This is a big RoundUp in terms of content. Pre-holidays and all that.

Safe shopping, RoundUppers!

[And thanks for all the "likes" in recent weeks. If I forget to mention it, that doesn't mean they are unnoticed.]

Also included: Prometheus; X-Men: Days of Future Past; Exodus: Gods & Kings; Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; The Book of Life; The Wolverine; I, Robot

Not sure what all 15 titles are. They only list seven on their web site, though the sale prices may not yet be updated for some titles if they start with Sunday's sale. For instance, Assassin's Creed currently shows as $17.99 (Sat 4:20PM).

Mike,

Another recommendation that you ordered is Atomic Blonde, but for your eyes only. I don't think Peg will enjoy this violent film with a hot woman assassin.

It might depend on who the assassin is ... ;)

Now THAT'S an assassin Peg wouldn't mind watching at all!

It's can't tell you how many times we say to ourselves "those 'Buddies' movies should be great!" But then we realize that...no...they're not.

Thanks for another fine job on the RoundUp, Mike. I appreciate the links to the reviews, especially the one added just an hour before you posted your list. Much appreciated!

Twilight Time has some major titles this month that I'm really looking forward to.

I went and read some reviews of Dr. Dolittle on IMDB. It sadly sounds like a turkey. I guess I'll have to depend on my older film version.

I still don't know what's up with the 3D sale at Best Buy. They have a promo link on the website that you can click for a list of sale items, but there are some titles on the list not reduced to the sale price. They have Assassin's Creed pictured in the promo and on the list, but the price is $17.99, not the sale price of $9.99.

Speculation is that it was supposed to be one of teh "Starting at 9.99" sales that the ad messed up.
Several folks have called/chatted with Cust Service to have teh manual adjustment on the prices. Most have been allowed, though like always there have been some folks getting different answers (It's a mistake, it's expired, it's your imagination, etc)

Hah!

Best Buy's stupidly vague ad phraseology is coming back to bite them in the ass!?! Serves 'em right.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread this week, but thank you, Mike, for your work, as always.

I have Wind River and In This Corner of the World coming to me from Amazon this week. Both are among my favorite films of the year, and Wind River has additional personal significance to me, so I'm really looking forward to getting both.

I wrote about In This Corner of the World a while back in the movies forum here: https://www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/in-this-corner-of-the-world.354017/. Anybody who is curious about it, I invite you to go over there to check out so-far spoiler-free discussion. I think the film would make a good blind buy, especially at Amazon's low $11.99 price point right now.

Hah!

Irrelevant now since BBY has reduced the price of those 16 items to 9.99 to match the ad rather than continue to fight the probably incorrect ad. About half these are on the BF BBY 6.99 3D list so choose wisely if you're one of those that feel cheated if a price changes later

Current 3D $9.99 not expected to be $6.99
Avatar Limited Edition (3D + Blu-ray + Digital HD)
Assassin's Creed - 3D
Home - 3D
Independence Day Resurgence - 3D
The Martian - 3D
Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children - 3D
Kung Fu Panda 3 - 3D
The Peanuts Movie - 3D
X-Men Apocalypse- 3D

Black Friday 3D $6.99 items Best Buy
The Book of Life (3D Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD)
Exodus: Gods and Kings (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD)
I, Robot (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + DVD)
Prometheus (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD)
The Wolverine (3D Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD)

Other upcoming BF $6.99 3D titles not part of this 9.99 sale in case it's not been posted elsewhere
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD)
