The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–This is my annual holiday week combo platter.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!  I’ll probably weigh-in next week if/when I see the Target and BB flyers for that first week in January.

–Another cool Terminator 2 Collectible (with the 4k release).  Although I’m getting a little worried that if they keep this up (the regular re-release of T2 with various parts of a Terminator included), how much longer until wrong-minded people will begin building their own Terminators out of all the spare parts???

The 4k Collectible Set:

One of the older releases:

Just a matter of time, right?!?  Skynet is clever.

–Details on Best Buy’s Weekly Ad are available at THIS LINK.

–And you are going to need to look there…because this week’s ad doesn’t list a single new release price…not much else of substance.

–Best Buy is advertising EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with its Blu-ray pre-orders of American Made, It, and Blade Runner 2049.

–The following 4k UHD releases are on sale this week at Best Buy:

$14.99:  The Fifth Element, Zero Dark Thirty, Close Encounters of the Third Kind

$19.99:  Apollo 13, The Mummy, Get Out, Power Rangers, Sicario, Deepwater Horizon

–Best Buy is advertising “New Releases Starting @ $19.99:”  Flatliners and The Mountain Between Us are shown (on Blu).

–BB is also advertising “Fantasy Gift Sets Starting at $49.99:”  Star Wars Complete Saga and Harry Potter 8-Film Collection shown (on Blu).

–And, BB says “Bring Home the Best of 2017–Starting at $19.99.”  Blu-ray titles shown are:  Cars 3, Kingsman: Golden Circle, LEGO Ninjago Movie, Dunkirk, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, American Assassin, an Despicable Me 3.

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  $5.99 Blu-rays (Choose from up to 70 titles).  Titles shown are:  Fight Club, Kill Bill, and No Country for Old Men.

–Target this week has “an extra 10% savings on ALL MOVIES!”…when you use the “Cartwheel” function in the Target app.

–Target is also advertising the following recent Blu-ray releases:

$19.99:  Kingsman: The Golden Circle, American Assassin

$22.99:  The LEGO Ninjago Movie

$24.99:  Dunkirk

–Target Odds and Ends: None to report.

A quiet couple of weeks ahead.

I suspect I'll be back with an update when I get access to the Target and Best Buy ads for the week of January 2nd.

Hope you all get what you want under the Christmas tree!

I'll be getting The Apartment and the immortal classic Hell Night. The deleted scenes are probably going to get me to immediately buy The Breakfast Club too.

For those interested in rentals or Netflix, American Made and Battle Of The Sexes are both good.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! Merry Christmas and happy New Year to everyone! :)

Thank you as always, Mike!

Nothing for me either of these weeks. American Made was a fun movie, and I would not hesitate to recommend a rental for those interested. But I don't really fel the need to own it.

Thanks, Mike, for the "double feature" work on the RoundUp. I had hoped that Universal might send Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid for review, but they jumped right over it to send some January titles instead.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Thanks, as always, Mike. The next two weeks look to be empty for me, aside from any sales I don't know about yet.

Sidenote to last week's convo about the Nolan discs on 4k: I found everything at Best Buy (sans the Nolan set and Interstellar) today. There were plenty of copies on the shelf. Target had none, but thy did have the long-elusive first Harry Potter on 4k. So I snagged the three Batman films and HP 1 (with Cartwheel discount) today.

The dogs and I watched Batman Begins tonight. Man, what a fantastic film. I thought it looked great on the format, too. Not qite sure what the neighbors thought of the audio, though. I'll probably hear about that tomorrow... ;)

The BestBuy ad shows the UHD steelbooks of Fifth Element and Close Encounters for $14.99, but online they're showing as $22.99.

I won't be able to get to a store until Tuesday to confirm the price, but ive been wanting to add these titles to my collection.

Thanks for all your hard work on the Weekly RoundUps, Mike! We sure appreciate it.

Just The Apartment for me, whenever Amazon chooses to send it.

Thanks for the prices, Mike. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

I have The Apartment on order from Amazon, and that is all for me. I do have the Harry Potter UHD 8-film set on the way form the Barnes & Noble sale ($85 plus tax) and A Few Good Men from Best Buy ($14.99), plus I got a couple of discs as Christmas presents. So we will have lots to watch -- I still have not watched everything I bought during Thanksgiving weekend.
