The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–For further details as to what Best Buy has going on this week, Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their Blu copies of Despicable Me 3.  Big premium, however, as the steelbook is $24.99–$5 higher than the standard Blu.  Best Buy also has EXCLUSIVE steelbook editions of Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2.

–Best Buy also has a unique bundle for sale.  You can buy a copy of the EXCLUSIVE steelbook of Despicable Me 3 PLUS an INSTAX camera (shaped like a minion) for a price of $40.98 (save $39.98) and get a FREE pack of instant print film.

–Best Buy also has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with its Blu copies of American Assassin.  Just to tick me off, BB says you can pick up a copy of American Assassin (no mention of any format) “starting at $19.99.”  They DO, however, say the standard Blu of American Assassin is on sale for $24.99.  But no idea how much the 4k UHD or the steelbook is going to be.

–Just to tick me off even further, BB says they’ve got the following 4k UHD titles “starting at $14.99:”

The Dark Tower, Sing, Spider-man: Homecoming, Transformers: The Last Knight, The Secret Life of Pets.

–Best Buy is advertising a series of ‘Holiday Steelbooks for $14.99 apiece.  Titles shown are Elf, A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  With no discussion of price (surprise!), BB wants you to know they’ve got lots of steelbooks happening.  Special edition steelbooks of John Wick, Logan and The LEGO Batman Movie.  You can pre-order steelbooks of Dunkirk and Kingsman 2.  And check out more than 50 other titles at BestBuy.com/SteelBooks (available now).  Titles shown are Star Wars (A New Hope) and The Fifth Element.

–Target this week has a TRIPLE EXCLUSIVE(!) this week with its Blu-ray release of Despicable Me 3.  Their EXCLUSIVE copies will have more than 20 minutes of bonus content, character cards, and tattoos (temporary, I would imagine!).  You WILL, however, pay a premium for this version.  While the standard Blu is listed at $19.99, the EXCLUSIVE release will cost $22.99.

–Target is also advertising Blu-ray versions of the first two Despicable Me movies and the Minions release for just $10 apiece.

–Target is also advertising a number of “Kid’s Picks” for just $10 apiece:

Blu-ray:  Home, Sing, The Secret Life of pets, The Angry Birds, Smurfs: The Lost Village, A Dog’s Purpose.

DVD:  The LEGO Batman Movie, Trolls.

–Target Odds and Ends: None to report.

Nothing for me this week.

I was never a fan of the Despicable Me movies. Maybe I'll see American Assassin someday...but I've already got a ton of action movies sitting on my shelf unwatched that I would want to get to until I find it at some bargain basement price. As much as I love Bud Greenspan and would love to see Olympia, I'll have to wait until some B&N (or Criterion) sale probably to pick that set up. And, again, Auntie Mame (which I've never seen) sometime down the road.

But that's okay, I've had a ton of expenses (many of them disc purchases) lately! :D

Safe shopping, RoundUppers!

Thanks Mike. Unless there's some kind of great deal when I wake up tomorrow, I think I'm with Jake this week. Nothing here until The Dark Knight trilogy mid-month.

Several holiday horrors on the list that I might check out. I'll get the 3D of Despicable Me 3 from UK.

Thanks for the ROundUp, Mike!

I have Auntie Mame coming tomorrow, and I'm very anxious to see the Blu-ray transfer. Otherwise, the week doesn't offer me anything of interest either.

Is Go Tell The Spartans a reissue? I have the prior one from Scorpion and the extras appear to be the same.
Also, I think BB is releasing a Jumanji Exclusive 4K Steelbook this week.

Thanks, Mike. I will eventually pick up the UHD of Jumanji -- I only had this on SD-DVD -- but I am in no hurry on that title, and can wait for the price to drop. I spent enough over Thanksgiving weekend, so it's time to give the wallet a rest.

The only potential thing I see at BB is Despicable Me 1-3 on 4k for $49.99. I cancelled two book orders last week...I'm tempted to pick them up this week, along with Coco's soundtrack, with this week's media budget.

Randomly: today only Target has their gift cards for 10% off. There are restrictions, but if you're looking for gift giving or for yourself, not a bad deal. It's essentially getting 10% off your purchases.

I don't see any good deals using Cartwheel; Target.com orders are 1.5% cash back using iBotta; BB is 1% using the same app. With Ebates, 1% on both BB in store and online when shopping through their app with a linked card; Barnes and Noble is 2%.

Same here. I have spent a lot on Twilight Time, Warner Archive, and sporadic Amazon deals these last few weeks.

Thanks as always Mike, for your great work each week!

I'm slated to receive the three remaining 4K UHD titles that are due to street this week for review, but nothing yet.

Despicable Me 3 coming out tomorrow was a complete shock and surprise for me for some reason. I had no idea until I clicked into this thread just now. I stay really up to date on release dates for movies I would buy, and have absolutely no idea how I missed this one.

I bit on the Planet of the Apes trilogy set (UHD) at Amazon. $50 for 3 movies (UHD, BD and Digital) is a good deal to me. I was going to try to do another of the 3/$50 bundle order, but the things I want aren't sold by Amazon right...I'll keep trying for the rest of the month.

Too bad the Walmart "exclusive" wasn't the 3D version of the film. But that backpack is pretty tempting. ;)

Sorry for the late reply. Just snooping around, have never seen this portion of HTF.

Never seen "Auntie Mame"? That like somebody having never seen "Gilligan's Island" :) I grew up with that and other Rosalind Russell movies, just a part of my childhood viewing adventures.

Sorry for my typo, still doing this one handed with a broken wrist, lots of hunt & peck.
