The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Hey gang!

Sorry for any confusion. The RoundUp got posted last night...but there was some kind of glitch (most likely on my part) in adapting to the new software which created the article but not this thread.

So, hopefully, we get this all figured out and develop into our normal rhythms/routines. Again, sorry for any delay in finding the coming week's deals.

Probably nothing for me this week.

Steve Jobs, Black Mass and Trumbo all have excellent performances that make them well worth renting. He won't win the Oscar but Michael Fassbender arugably gave the best performance of last year.

Maybe I'm the only person who sometimes likes to catch up with HTF via Tapatalk on the iPad, because nobody else chimed in when I mentioned this the first time...but just as in a previous WRU on the new platform, the two links in post #1 are taking me to an archived thread from 2001.

I tried to leave a message earlier that got eaten and disappeared without a trace.

Anyway, thanks for the RoundUp, Mike. Many of us are undergoing growing pains with our new homestead, but all will eventually work out.

As I mentioned last week, I'll be covering three of the Twilight Time releases this month, and I'm signed up for The Kid, too, but I haven't gotten my hands on them yet.

I'll certainly be adding The Big Heat and I Confess to my collection at some future date, and I'll probably watch Steve Jobs and Trumbo either by rental or wait for paycable before deciding whether I want to add them to my collection.

Thanks for the Roundup!

I would like to order that "Iron Giant - Signature Edition", but it's DVD only???

So while I'm waiting for that to migrate to Blu-ray, I'm jumping on that "Support Your Local Sheriff / Gunslinger" Double Feature from Twilight Time while it's still available!

I feel like this is an embarrassing rookie question, but what do the asterisks mean next to the films?

Anyway, I'm interested in the Iron Giant, but I can't figure out what makes it the "signature edition". If anyone knows, I'd be grateful. And why no Bluray?

The new release contains a good bit of extras/commentaries that weren't on the previous DVD releas and I'm thinking it's a new transfer. There has been pretty strong rumors of a BD release which was originally expected in late 2015 after they re-released it to the theaters in a Fathom event. Everything I've read still indicates that a BD release will eventually be made but no release date yet -- unfinished documentaries/commentaries/retrospectives, etc have been mentioned. i'm not sure why they decided to push out the DVD alone instead of waiting until
they were both ready.

New DVD includes:
- Includes both version of the film:
The Iron Giant: Signature Edition (2015)
The Iron Giant: Original Theatrical Edition (1999)
- Feature-Length Commentaries by Director Brad Bird, Head of Animation Tony Fucile, Story Department Head Jeff Lynch and Giant Animation Supervisor Steven Markowski
- The Making of The Iron Giant – Hosted by Vin Diesel and featuring interviews with the cast and crew
- Deleted Scenes, Original Opening Sequences and Featurettes that give you an inside look into the score, character design, storyboards and animation
- Motion Gallery, New Signature Edition Trailer, and more!

Hey everybody!

Again...I'm sorry for the delay in this week's thread. The worse part is the article was there...but no one knew it.

First off...thanks as always to everyone for the likes of the OP. Always appreciated!

Secondly, Al..the asterisks are meaningless. I just forgot to clean things up better this week. I usually take out the studio references, too. I had a busy weekend! ;)

And thirdly...I've got The Kid on its way to me this week. I've never seen it and am really looking forward to it. I have always heard so much about Jackie Coogan's performance and classic Chaplin to boot!

Thanks for your work, Mike. Steve Jobs for me this week and that's all, but I'm looking forward to seeing it again and am glad it hit a $19.99 price point despite its theatrical underperformance.

Nada for me. We just welcomed a new dog home and it's time to save the pennies (again). Next week is The Good Dinosaur...

Nothing this week...not really anything rental-wise. Is the WRU "pinned" so it shows up on the website page (as opposed to clicking on the "home" link)? I'm still having trouble getting around on the new site....

Thanks David. I went ahead and ordered the DVD, it's only $8; but I'll still be ticked when they finally come out with the BR version.

And thanks for clearing that up Mike. By the way, thanks for doing a great job every week. I appreciate it every Sunday, but only say thanks about once a year (not a good ratio ...).

Not exactly sure what you mean, Eric. but I'll try to answer. The RoundUp is "pinned" in the Bargains & Deals forum...so that it is at the very top of the listing of threads in that forum. There is, however, no longer that little box that was at the top of most forum pages which had a link directly to the latest RoundUp (if that's what you're asking about).

If you're having trouble navigating the forum, shoot me a PM explaining how you used to do it an I'll see if I can come up with a similar way for you in the new platform. That offer goes to any Roundupper, by the way.

And thanks for clearing that up Mike. By the way, thanks for doing a great job every week. I appreciate it every Sunday, but only say thanks about once a year (not a good ratio ...).

I appreciate that Al. A lot of members are finding the "like" feature is the easiest way to say thanks for the OP. That's why I'm trying to remember each week to say thanks back for all the "likes." I don't want people to think I'm not noticing.

Just so you know, in case you didn't, Sam's seems to have completely done away with selling DVDs and Blurays, and this appears to be a permanent move.
