The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Another week of new Twilight Time releases which can be pre-ordered HERE and HERE.

–Best Buy, this week, will NOT have a paper flyer!  And, apparently, they won’t have another flyer until early in May.  This makes compiling a comprehensive WRU rather difficult.

–Best Buy Odds and Ends:  None to report.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK RELEASE of Justice League vs. Teen Titans (and without a premium cost to get it!).

–The following recent releases are on sale this week at Target (all DVD unless otherwise noted):

$12.99:  Creed (DVD).

$14.99:  Creed (Blu), The Peanuts Movie (DVD), Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (DVD), Sicario (DVD), SPECTRE (DVD).

$16.99:  The Hateful Eight (DVD).

$17.99:  SPECTRE (Blu).

$19.99: The Peanuts Movie (Blu), Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 2 (Blu), Sicario (Blu), Hateful Eight (Blu).
–The biggest portion of the media section of Target’s flyer is taken up with last week’s release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($19.99 DVD/$24.99 Blu).

–Target Odds and Ends: Lists of DVDs for $4.50 and $11.

As it says in the RoundUp itself, there's no BB flyer this week (or for the next couple weeks, too!).

Quiet week, though...except for some nice catalog releases.

Happy shopping everyone! And thanks for all the "likes." They are always noticed and appreciated.

Thanks Mike. I'm happy for a quiet week! My backlog has been growing quickly in recent months.

In fact, I don't think I have anything pending on my slate until the second season of "The Last Ship" on Blu the first Tuesday of May.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike!

Apart from the Twilight Time titles assigned to me, I've requested one or two others in the list, but I have no idea if or when I'll get them. I'll certainly be adding Suspicion to my purchase list. Nice to see the Hitchcock Blu-ray want list winnowing down gradually.

Thanks for your work, Mike, especially in lack of a Best Buy flyer, which must make the work more difficult than it has to be. If BB doesn't want to advertise, maybe they don't need our business.

In any case, I've had at least one and often more than one major new release to get every week since March 1, and I'm rather amazed I was able to afford so many of them. Therefore, my wallet is extremely relieved to be arriving at the end of that onslaught of discs, as looking through the grids there isn't anything this week that I have the slightest interest in. On another week I might have gotten Creed if Amazon price matched it (which is the only major title from March that I kind of wanted but didn't pick up yet), but as it stands right now I'm happy to continue waiting to pick it up until the next time it goes on sale and save myself the money.

Amazon will be sending me my most anticipated book in recent memory, but that's all paid up with gift card funds thanks to my recent refunds and so forth from them, so I don't have to spend anything more out of pocket to get it. And, that's all, so I'll be spending Tuesday reading rather than in front of the TV.

Just Suspicion for me. Since I already have the TCM blu of OAHW, I'm holding off on the Criterion for the next BN sale.

I preordered Justice League vs. Teen Titans AGES ago. It should be here on Thursday. I think the BD price should be $16.99 for Amazon above.

Non-WRU stuff coming this week are a few CD's from LaLaLand and six titles from the Disney Movie Club...

As always, thank you Mike!!

Okay, seriously people - if you dig 70's cop movies and exploitation flicks, go get Shadows in an Empty Room (AKA Blazing Magnums). I got it on a cheapie public domain set ages ago, and the movie is great stuff. It sports one of the best car chases I've seen in my very long history of movie watching. For 15 bucks, you cant go wrong!

Best Buy has their weekly ad online, so you can get some prices there. http://deals.bestbuy.com/?category=featured+deals

There's a typo on Family Matters 6thh Season

I want to get Village of the Damned and Bride of Re-Animator but I'm waiting for price drops. Village will probably show up during the next horror sale at Shout, the one with new titles each day. Bride is priced like their other titles that end up dropping $15 about 6 months later, unless I can find some compelling reason it'll go OOP before then.

edit: I found Bride of Re-Animator for about $13 less than Amazon over at Barnes and Noble. I also have a 20% off coupon but can't be used for pre-orders. I've also learned that if I wait until tomorrow, to use the coupon, it might be out of stock or the price jumps up. I've been burned by that before. They sometimes have really good pre-order prices and then it shoots up higher than everyone else on release day.

I figure I'll check in the morning and if the price is the same, I'll order it again with the coupon and then cancel or return the one from today.

edit 2: Village is slightly cheaper than Amazon too but not enough to pre-order without 20% off. I have one more 20% coupon, so maybe the price doesn't change and then I can use it. I'm hoping anyway.

Thanks, Mike!

The local news said that Best Buy is closing one of their area stores. More signs of the troubles they are facing. I personally have purchased maybe five things there in the last half decade or so.

I have a question about Best Buy. The store in Boise stopped selling DVDs and Blu-rays quite some time ago. Are the listings in WRU just for their website, or do some Best Buy locations still sell disc media?

The Best Buy near me still has lots of media. In fact today they still had a few Force Awakens steelbooks on the big display in the front of the store.

Ha, you can't fool me twice Mr. Barnes and Noble. They only did Bride of Re-Animator pre-orders and now it's not sold in stores. At some point it'll come back at a super high price but I already got my pre-order in. Fool me once...

Village of the Damned was still available online and I picked it up for $17.50.

My local store still sells media, too. I would suspect most do.

I was in my store yesterday; they still have a relatively large media section. I got blus of Ted 2 and the remastered The Fifth Element.

Are you sure they didn't just move the media section in Boise, compressed into some back corner of the store? (The two stores I visit most regularly have moved their media section several times in the past few years.) Seems odd that any Best Buy would sell home theater systems and televisions, without ANY media available. Media is really the only reason I go into a Best Buy anymore. If my store drops media, that would be the end of my visits.

Dennis,

I think they moved the media section because I was able to place in my on-line cart, several Blu-ray titles for pick up at the following Best Buy location in Boise:
