The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–I had to dust-off a media category this week that we haven’t had in a Round-Up in quite some time…  Although listed as “unavailable,” the Amazon listing confirms the “Collector’s Edition” VHS release of 1982’s Parasite is due May 14th.

Full Moon’s ultra-limited edition PARASITE VHS collectors edition is an exact replica of the original Wizard Video “big box” gate-fold release from 1982, lovingly recreated and including the full-length feature film on a high-quality VHS tape. It’s the ultimate PARASITE collectible!

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING for a few different films:

$14.99:  Pitch Black (Blu-ray)

$21.99:  Field of Dreams (4k/UHD), King Kong (2005) (4k/UHD)

$24.99:  Godzilla (1998) (4k/UHD)

I think the 3D Archive confirmed they were working on a restoration of Parasite, but I don't think it's due out for a while. I'll probably skip the VHS and wait for the blu-ray. :D

Thank you, Mike!

Never Look Away is a fantastic movie which I would love to see again and own, so I'll eventually pick it up. But the Broadway obsessive in me is winning next week. Random House Audio is releasing an audiobook of the entire Angels in America script, adapted as a listening experience and featuring the cast of last year's Broadway revival reprising their roles.

I've long had that on pre-order for next week, and that's enough for one week. Considering that it's seven CDs and almost seven hours, Amazon's price (currently $22.90) is very fair. But I don't want to add another $22.55 for Never Look Away on top of that in one day, so, the movie can wait. Maybe by the time I get around to it, it will have dropped in price. In case anyone else is interested, this is what I'm talking about. The cast includes Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane.

Oh, and while we're on the topic of Angels in America, the HBO miniseries adaptation of the play from 2003 really needs a Blu-ray upgrade.

I saw this London production via a broadcast to an Angelika screen. Well worth it. I've also seen 2 separate productions of the plays: one in Chicago; the other in Dallas. It's a tremendous experience.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike! You seem to be ropin' these doggies earlier and earlier!
There's a few pre-orders for me next week, with the Criterion's on a list for the next B&N sale:

  • Apollo 11
  • The Big Clock
  • The Buster Keaton Collection: Volume 1
  • This Gun for Hire

The link has been added to the grid, Matt.

Thanks for always being so patient with me...
No problem! I seem to be sneaking these reviews onto the site without much notice since I cut back on the volume of my output. Appreciate your efforts always!

I still have over 500 VHS Movies. Like to watch them every now & then.
A blastfrom the past.;)

Why? I seriously can't think of a single reason to do that. I don't even watch DVDs anymore. And if I can watch a 4K Blu-ray instead of a Blu-ray, I will 10 times out of 10.
