The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Another week of Twilight Time releases.  You know the drill.  They can only be pre-ordered HERE and HERE.

–Best Buy, this week, has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK PACKAGING with their 4k/UHD copies of How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World.  There is a $5 pricing premium for this packaging.  The price is $34.99.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE Blu-ray release of How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World.  For just a $1 pricing premium ($27.99) you can get a Blu-ray combo pack which includes “Wearable Dragon Wings.”  Be the life of your next party and buy yourself some dragon wings to wear!  You’ll be the envy of everyone in your neighborhood!  😀

Thank you, Mike!

What terrible pricing on The Hidden World. I hope that that will go down some once the ads come out this weekend. But it's the last one and I loved it, so I'll get it even if it doesn't. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, plus I need it to complete the set.

I've also got the soundtracks for the new Aladdin and Endgame on pre-order for next week. In case anyone else is interested, they're both due out next Friday, May 24.

Thanks for the RoundUp. Only a couple of releases I'm interested in from this batch. Good thing to give the old bank balance a rest period.

I just realized I had neglected a link to Sam's review of the 4k/UHD release of Crank.

It has now been added to the grid.

Cartwheel also has 20% off DVD, BD and 4K’s. Preorders and new this week titles are excluded. Expires May 25. Just a heads up.
Also, the offer is valid in store and online with Order Pickup and Drive Up.

Nothing this week, though I will be picking up those Kino's at some point. With KL having regular sales it is hard to justify purchasing on release date.

I posted this over in the Movies forum but thought I'd post it over here too in case anyone interested checks this thread first. These promotions aren't related to Blu-rays, so Mike would have had no reason to note them in the Roundup, but they are about new release movie soundtracks, so it's possible some of you might be interested.

On Friday, May 24, the soundtrack to Rocketman (the upcoming Elton John movie) is being released. I saw a sneak preview showing of the movie last night and thought it was great. You can go over to the movies forum to read more of my thoughts about that.

I wanted to alert everyone to the fact that Target is doing one of their exclusive versions of the soundtrack, which will have two additional tracks that do not appear on the general release version. So if you want it, be aware of that before making a purchase through Amazon or somewhere else.

Target is also having an exclusive on the Aladdin soundtrack, but the difference is the inclusion of two "collector cards," which don't matter to me. There won't be any additional music on the Target copies of Aladdin. I'm keeping my Amazon order for Aladdin so as to get that on Friday, but will head to Target next weekend to get Rocketman.

Amazon dropped its price on the Blu-ray of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World to $24.99, matching Best Buy.

Or, a better deal, if you don't have the first two films yet, Amazon is also selling a Blu-ray 3-pack for (currently) $34.96.

Yup, forgot that part. :)

I found a copy of Batman: TAS on BD in store yesterday. Price: $79.99 (Target.com was for $69.99). I tried to price match in store to the website and use the 20% off. It was a no go. I was told I could either do the price match OR the Cartwheel, but not both. (It actually says it in the Terms and Conditions, but I didn't get down that far...)

I also tried to order online for in store pick up at the lower price plus Cartwheel...but Target.com says the store didn't have stock. THAT was the universe telling me I didn't need the set this weekend.

I’m guessing that, after today’s news, that Mike will never watch Saturday Night Live again (out of protest)

https://www.apnews.com/e3129bff57be4b958994b0e0d5640bad

Honestly, I haven't been watching SNL all that much in recent years anyway.

But, I guess it's true. She's back off the market.

We're like two ships that pass each other in the night.

I think back fondly on my old template for putting together each week's WRU. As time (and platforms) change, my template has had to adapt, too. But I still have vestiges of those old days safely archived: :D

I remember one time, I think there were slim pickings for good titles one week, and I just went ahead and used all my ScarJo placeholder pix in that RoundUp rather than try to find images for any new releases! I don't remember many complaints!
