The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–Best Buy, this week, has a BUNCH of EXCLUSIVE RELEASES!

–Best Buy has EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK RELEASES of both the Blu-ray and 4k UHD Blu releases of The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

–And, Best Buy’s DVD release of NCIS: Season 13 is also available in a lenticular cover.  No premium price for that one either.  Just first come, first served.

–Best Buy should probably commit to a uniform practice on whether to charge a premium for EXCLUSIVE packaging situations.  But, they haven’t been taking my calls…

–Best Buy continues its promotion to give customers FREE $10 BB GIFTCARDS with the purchase of $50 or more on select TV seasons.  They say titles can be seen at BestBuy.com/FallTVShows.

–The following Blu-ray releases are on sale this week at Best Buy (up to 50% savings):

$9.99:  Fantastic Four (2015)

$12.99:  SPECTRE

Happy new week, RoundUppers! :D

Another week chock full of eclectic titles.

3 Bad Men was pre-ordered by me from Amazon quite a long time ago. And both of this week's Weiner/wiener flicks will be mine.

Safe shopping!

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike!

I have already reviewed Elementary here and hope to have NCIS: Season 13 up tonight (have the final two episodes and one bonus feature to get through).

I requested Inspector Lewis to review, but PBS sent the fine detective series Endeavor instead, so I'll do that and hopefully have the review up tomorrow night. Then I begin working on the August 30th releases. Nice to be busy after a very lazy and mostly quiet spring and summer.

Thanks as usual for your work, Mike! THE NICE GUYS is one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen so far this year and I'm glad to be adding it to my collection via Amazon, who have kindly dropped the price to match Best Buy's $19.99. It's a real shame that this film did not do better in theaters and I would highly recommend it, especially if you missed it during its run this summer.

Quite a week. I've had Clown on pre-order for a month. Will likely also pick up The Nice Guys, The Huntsman, and Ash vs. Evil Dead, though may wait for price drops.

Just a quick correction: the $29.99 Amazon link to the WALKING DEAD Blu-Ray actually reveals a $39.99 price listing. So make sure to get yours from Best Buy! :)

Thanks as always, Mike, for the good work.

Elementary will possibly be my birthday gift later in the week. Just about the only network show I follow - and thanks also to Matt for his review.

Clay: Thanks for the heads up. The Amazon price WAS $29.99 when I composed the RoundUp. It's mighty unusual for them to bump it up higher so close to release date. I wonder if it'll drop back down? It's rare when they don't pricematch the major B&Ms.

Damn no Nice Guys UHD

I thought this was odd, too, since it *is* available in UHD on digital services like Vudu. I would not have bought a UHD edition anyway because I haven't upgraded to that format, but it is interesting that WB chose not to release a disc, which I assume is because it didn't make enough money in theaters for them to feel justified that one would sell. Unfortunately, Its entire domestic theatrical gross was $36.2 million, which had to be disappointing to everyone involved. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=niceguys.htm. Had it been a smash hit, they would probably have done it.

Also, I'm sure $36.2m is too small to justify a sequel, despite built-in potential for that considering how the film ends.

I may pick up FF and Spectre just to have complete collections. We'll see how I feel by the end of the week...

Thanks Mike!

A heads-up for the Holmes fans: Elementary (Season 4) is on the shelf (and online) for $34.99 at Best Buy.
My sweet wife bought it elsewhere this morning, but was able to price-match it.

In situations like this, where there's a UHD digital release but no UHD physical release, there should be a "disc-to-digital" style upgrade program. When I redeemed my UV code from the Nice Guys Blu-Ray, I was disheartened to see that the UHD version was full price. If you want a physical copy and the UHD copy, you have to buy the movie twice at full price. A $5 or $10 upgrade charge would be a lot more reasonable.
