Yamaha Unveils AVENTAGE RX-A 80 Receivers with Surround:AI

Yamaha has announced that a new generation of AVENTAGE AV receivers, the RX-A 80 Series, will be available between May and July of this year, with prices ranging from $599.95 to $2,199.95. Three of the models will employ the company’s new Surround:AI tech, an audio feature which will adjust audio levels in real time on a scene-by-scene basis.

All six models include Dolby Atmos and DTS:X immersive audio processing, streaming via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, voice control courtesy of Alexa-enabled devices, as well as a host of onboard video features, including 4K pass-through, HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG support.

The Surround:AI feature is only found on the top three units in the range, namely the 7.2-channel RX-A1080 ($1,299.95), 9.2-channel RX-A2080 ($1,699.95), and 9.2-channel RX-A3080 ($2,199.85). The new tech will enable greater dialogue intelligibility in movie scenes which compete with heavy background noise or effects.

All products in the range will include the MusicCast multi-room audio connectivity facility, as well as Yamaha’s new MusicCast Surround feature. The latter allows a configuration of 5.1  speaker setups with wireless left and right surround speakers. Furthermore, Apple AirPlay is supported, as are music services such as Pandora, Spotify, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Napster, TIDAL and Deezer. All six models will include a ‘frame-and-beam’ design for a more robust chassis, and will also include Yamaha’s now common ‘fifth foot’ for vibration dampening.

“The ninth generation AVENTAGE series delivers the performance and feature set that demanding music and home-theater enthusiasts appreciate,” said Robert Goedken, general manager, AV division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Consumers and custom installers alike will be able to use this tech to deliver top-quality home entertainment experiences in any space.”
