Since the first 2 WB archive releases have been series that have never been on dvd before/Colt .45 and The Alaskans the next 1 may very well be Temple Houston. Here is a very good article on the creation of the series.

A movie was released based on the show and called The Man From Gavelston. Its available for purchase on amazon. Here are 2 scenes.

Another one that would be an instant preorder for me like the Alaskans, and Colt 45.
I believe the show starred Jeffrey Hunter who was an underrated actor .

I'm interested in The Alaskans but not committed just yet, we'll see how many of the spring sales pick-ups I can watch in the next month or two. . .

But definitely agree on Temple Houston, I would love to see that one issued, Jeffrey Hunter was definitely underrated as an actor.

Before the Pandemic, there was talk about the Alaskans before everything went kablooey, and it's nice to see it finally came out. But I think there was also rumours about The Guns of Paradise season 2 & 3. Mind you, that was five years ago, but we'll have to see.

Would love to see them complete The Guns of Paradise. It's a great series from the late 80s.

THE ALASKANS is up for pre-order now at MovieZyng with a release date of July 16,2024. $69.99.
Great news, thanks Bob! No surprise it was delayed another few weeks. The Alaskans should be up for pre-order at Amazon and other sites soon. I'd go with MovieZyng if I could, but when I ordered Colt .45 from them, their shipping to Canada was quite a bit more pricey for me than Amazon turned out to be. So, I'll wait to pre-order it on Amazon, and likely have it on street date or nearly so!

Some images I found in searches for The Alaskans...having seen a little over a quarter of the 37 episodes via 16mm film sources and video dupes derived from battered film chain, I can say that if you love Maverick, you'll definitely love The Alaskans!

In addition to the usual great WB guest stars, The Alaskans benefits from having Ray Danton (in 34 eps.), John Dehner (in 4 eps.) and Michael Forest in 6 eps. ('Apollo' on Star Trek) as regular cast or recurring characters. Rex Reason in 4 eps. (Dorothy Provine's co-star the following season on Roaring 20s), Lovelies Andra Martin in 3, Karen Steele in 3, Ruta Lee in 2. And Robert Colbert (Maverick, Time Tunnel) in 2.

Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Jacqueline Beer of 77 Sunset Strip also appear in other episodes.

And for me, the biggest delight in casting on The Alaskans is found in seeing the great Claude Akins as a Mountie!

Great news that The Alaskans is finally available for pre-order (thanks, Bob!)! Most likely WAC didn't want to list a pre-order until they had the actual release date locked in. I've used MovieZyng with good results several times in the past, but will likely follow Randall's lead and wait for the Amazon listing to avail myself of free shipping.

The good news for me personally is that the Blu-Ray set is due to be released a couple of weeks before I'm due to fly back to the States at the end of July for a three-week visit, so it should be ready and waiting for me at my family's home by the time I arrive. Looking forward to seeing this new-to-me WB series, sure to look wonderful remastered in HD!
