KEF has today announced that the LS50 Wireless II HiFi speakers now support HD and Ultra HD music from Amazon Music. This now enables LS50 W2 customers to stream 75 million-plus HD songs and over seven million UHD songs (the latter for Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers). KEF says that the speakers benefit from the company’s “obsession” with reproducing hi-fi sound sound by using its in-house developments such as ‘Metamaterial Absorption Technology’ (MAT) and a 12th generation Uni-Q driver array.
Combined the W2 platform, the LS50 speakers can support streaming from major music services, although KEF stresses that Canadian customers have a more limited choice of HD song selection (while still in the millions). Amazon Music Unlimited offers HD songs with 16 bit-depth and a sample rate of at least 44.1 kHz (CD quality).
