Reminder that today is the last day for the BN Sale. So far no evidence of it being extended through the weekend which I do find odd.

Store Employee did indicate that an ARROW 50%off MSRP sale would be starting 8/1 and presumably going through most of August.

Arrow's own major sale on both their US and UK sites should be running another few days. As a rule ordering an equivalent sale title from UL can often be cheaper even after paying shipping (esp if you're buying a group of items) thouhh do remember that only approx 1/3 - 1/2 of Arrow UK Blurays are region free. For those with Panasonic Players, Arrow items are nearly 100% unlockable with some vairation of TOP MENU button presses. If I remember there were up to 3 different button combinations to find one that might work on a specific disc

I made a "if money was no object list" and it came up to about $750 for around 30 titles which was obviously out of control and unjustifiable.

I did eventually narrow it down to 8 titles for about $240 after taxes.

Insomnia (to replace my DVD version)
Infernal Affairs Trilogy
Once Upon a Time in China
Following (to replace my DVD version)
Touch of Zen
Complete Lady Snowblood
Ride with the Devil
Memories of Murder
Decided to place another order last night before the sale ended (plus the new stamp promo was spend $50 get $10 reward.)

I added (to the above):
  • The Fisher King 4k
  • Malcolm X 4k
  • Traffic (to replace my DVD version)

Bumping this thread to discuss the November sale--anyone know a start date?

I haven't heard anything yet. I was thinking it might start today (last Friday in Oct), but since nothing this week I'd bet on sometime next week -- possibly 1st and run for the calendar month or possibly Friday and run through Black Friday Sunday/Cybermonday.

Last year it started on the Friday Nov 4th so ......

2021 Last Friday of Oct (29th)
2020 1st Friday of Nov (6th)
2019 (Friday 11/1 -- 12/1)

Unconfirmed report (no sources listed) that sale would start Monday Nov 6 and run through Dec 4. I'll try to find some source for those dates, but I'm sceptical for a couple reasons

Still confusion reigns. Multiple reports from various sources indicating employees telling customers conflicting answers. At least one manager and a couple floor employees say Friday Nov 3, and an equal number saying Monday Nov 6. All I can say for now if the SALE appears to be coming soon. We'll know is 10-12 hrs when the website flips and hopefully some emails go out.

B&N Holiday GIFT CARD PROMOTION now underway - $10 Bonus GC for $100 Gift Card purchase though even that isn't clean. The website T&C say is will be active through mid December with an "Limit of $100.00 Barnes & Noble eGift Card rewards per customer per day. The $10.00 Barnes & Noble eGift Card will be delivered via email to you on January 12, 2024 " I'm not sure if that means 1 Bonus Card per day or up to 10 per day ($1000 with $100 Bonus Rewards). In-store purchases have similar language, but the Bonus Card should be given immediately. Unlike in the past there is no language indicating the Bonus Cards will have a delayed activation. I'm sure the last years (maybe 2021) Bonus Cards were usable almost immediately

Online Free Shipping limit is $40 (no limit if you've joined their Premium Rewards program). International Orders (including Canada) have been sporadic -- some people say they've been able to do it, others say it's not allowed. I have yet to figure out any pattern whether it's established customers, certain delivery addresses, or random .

Items released since end of Criterion.com Flash Sale and items releasing during the expected BN Sale. New releases have usually been listed 50% off at the start of the Sale. If you order online with current items and preorders, BN has usually shipped them as available and not waited until all items are released/available. I'm also assuming since the Janus $30 MSRP were available at the Flash Sale that they will be 50% off at BN/BN.com as well.

Also note if you bailed on BN and BN Memberships a while back, they have revamped their Rewards program and now there is a Free Tier open to everyone willing to sign up with an email (maybe phone number) giving basically $5 Reward for every $100 purchased. They call them STAMPS (virtual S&H Green Stamps I guess if you've old enough) -- 1 Stamp for every $10 purchased and 10 stamps equals $5 reward. There have been frequent DOUBLE Stamp periods and most people are expecting something from Nov and/or Dec. PREMIUM Members ($40/year) get TRIPLE STAMPS during these promotions, 10% off online and in-store purchases -- though usually they've excluded items already with 40% or higher Sales so not on Criterions, free Shipping on all orders, one Free Tote per year, and some other small perks. As far as I can tell purchase of Gift Cards do not qualify for STAMPS, but buying items with a GC do. I had some 12% discounted BN GC back in July AND combined with their TRIPLE Stamp promotion then, my bottom line item prices were substantially lower than similar Criterion.com Flash Sale even counting the Criterion $50Cert program and $10 email freebie.

I'm curious whether they will run the same promo on the Arrow catalog. I've got a few more on that list than Criterion at this point. I noticed for a few titles, Amazon has a 20% off coupon, bringing the price close to 50% off MSRP, so I'm debating whether to wait for BN's sale.

That said, I will probably pick up The Others, Dim Sum, and maybe Jackie Chan.

Nothing showing up online so guessing that means Monday Nov 6 may be the correct start date afterall. Been a while since they've started a Criterion Sale on Mond or Tuesday.
I was just at my local Barnes & Noble store in Louisville, Kentucky and the clerk at the front desk confirmed that the Criterion 50% Off sale will begin tomorrow, November 6th. Get your Wish List ready!

Banner is up online for the sale but prices haven't flipped yet. In the past they usually go on ET, but not always on the dot. Sometimes in groups, sometimes all at once but late and the time change last night could easily be messing things up.

Just visited the local Hickory, NC store early this am. They have gutted their Criterion titles from three shelves to one with nothing worth buying. Also pulled out a few Bluray titles I already have and made note that some of the 39.99 blurays (they were not 4K) pricing was 49.99! No sale here. Noramlly 4K's are 49.99. Last observation: they did not open the main doors. They opened the doors further down to the Starbucks coffee area. Subliminal advertising? I have never seen them do this before. Will include in my new film, Once Upon A Time In Hickory.

I checked earlier today on the items I'm interested in, but Amazon's not price matching them (for now).
