Denon Receivers get Dolby Vision update (1 Viewer)

Just got home and turned on my Denon receiver.
Update for Dolby Vision was waiting for me to update.
Now I'm fully updated for Dolby Vision with tv, receiver and 4k player!!!

My Denon X3300W just received the firmware update today. I am 2/3rds of the way there -- my Vizio M70-D3 display supports Dolby Vision along with the Denon AVR. My two 4K source components -- Sony X-800 UHD player and Roku Ultra -- do not, and probably never will.

I will wait to see what the 2018 model year brings for UHD players. The Oppo is a nice player, but I really do not want to spend that much money just to play a few UHD titles with DV. Hopefully there will be more lower priced options available next year, and the Sony can be moved to our bedroom to replace an early generation Sony BD player that is quite slow loading discs.

Tested it out with Despicable Me dolby vision.
Works great!

Unless it is this year model no updates. I have the SR7010 and have been told no update coming.

With Denon, it is the 2016 model year AVR's which are receiving the firmware updates for Dolby Vision. The newly released 2017 models come with DV support upon shipment. Denon and Marantz are the same company and their models share a lot of the same components now, so there may be hope for 2016 Marantz models.

Sweet. I was starting to wonder what the used market was for the 7702mkII if I wanted to sell and jump to the 7704.

Though, still thinking about that now that it's on my brain.

Why does the AVR need DV support? Doesn't it just pass thru the signal?

The AVR needs to be able to pass the Dolby Vision signal through properly, just as it needs to pass HDR-10 through. The Denon 2016 models required a firmware upgrade for the DV pass through.
