An enjoyable watch. Although I haven't compared it to the stage script, I'm certain that Hollywood exised/truncated/changed some of this in its transfer to screen. Still, it is surprisingly sex-filled for its day, and the stars are all fine, especially Deborah Kerr. I cringe thinking about Bette Davis in the Broadway version playing Ava Gardner's blowsy/sexy role. "Shaaaaaaaannnon...what a dump!"
I was disappointed to learn that the documentaries make practically no mention of Grayson Hall's performance in the film- after all, she walked away with an Oscar nomination, not Burton, Gardner, or Kerr! A very bad oversight!!! And as a Dark Shadows fan, I can safely say that there's a lot of us who feel the same way!
