I understand that Radio City was to give a well publicized opening to Kane but Hearst came down hard on the Rockefellers and it was cancelled. Ambersons would have been perfect for the Hall so its opening at the Capitol which often showed very popular commercial MGM product was very strange indeed. I imagine its audience reception there was not good.
This something I don't understand that the review says, 'is an exceptionally well-made film, dealing with a subject scarcely worth the attention which has been lavished upon it.' The changes in American society and the changes wrought on its landscape are hardly worth the attention which has been lavished upon it.? It is a great subject for American artists.
