    4-way split screen?

I suspect the answer is a solid "no", but I've decided to ask anyway... What: Are there any current displays that will do 4-way split screen with 4 inputs? Why: Work-from-home means I have 4 monitors on my desk. Everything works fine on 2 vertical mounts, but I got to thinking it might be...

    PS4 owners thread

HA! My Pro was only just delivered last night... I have to deal with a 2meg pipe, so it will be a while before GoW, Uncharted 4, Journey, Persona 5 and the KH3 update are done. Add to that a passing interest in Anthem and a friend asking if I'd play Division2 with him... The stack of just PS...

    Installing Ubuntu 18.04

3.5" HDs cannot run off USB-spec power, thus the adapter. 2.5" HDs are power misers by comparison, so USB power is enough. As for BIOS access, perhaps this applies? Don't know what model you have... https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/542676/where-is-the-jumper-for-resetting-the-bios-located

Brand makes and models for consideration

Another way of looking at this is to buy based on a *much* bigger room (overbuild the system.) Cry once and all that. You can always keep the volume low on an oversized amp; a small amp will not exceed its rated capacity...

    Installing Ubuntu 18.04

Did the actual hardware fail, or did the windows install go south? Can you see the internal HD from Ubuntu? If the HD is still OK and you can still get into the BIOS, take some pictures of the screens relating to installed storage devices and boot order...

Can't say for sure as I only just caved and put in my order for the console & game....but anytime I've run into this issue with other controllers, it was because I hadn't rested my forearms/elbows on anything for a while.

Best sound card for Sonos 5.1 home theater

It could be a very big deal depending on who is making the adapter and how it is powered--there's a very strong chance of introducing audible noise to the signal.

To bring this post full-circle, my dad bought the TV with calibration from Value Electronics, and it was delivered earlier today. I did manage to snag a UB820 from Best Buy before they disappeared, and along with some appropriate certified HDMI cables from Monoprice, it was an early Christmas...

Isn't that what a PS+ sub is supposed to be good for (aside for an occasionally-good free game or 2?) A prime reason to have a reasonably-sized UPS in the mix... For reference, I have 4 x 1kVA and a 1.5kVA APC SmartUPS to protect all the important electronics in the house. All it took was a...

Seeking advice on a new-build htpc

You can shelve the Pi/10 idea as it isn't what you think. In general, I'd shy away from Windows on ARM in any form just because it it has such a poor performance track record. This also includes anything that might do x86 emulation (so no linux/android devices.) A NUC would be a nice choice...

    Are my speakers too old?

Your biggest issue will be the hardware doing the decoding, but only if you care about audio formats outside of (the run-of-the-mill) 7.1, like Atmos. If you're like me and are satisfied with with what you have, the issue simplifies itself down to proper speaker mounting & calibration, then...

Small Room Subwoofer Upgrade - Single or Dual?

In addition to this, the statement about car engines also applies quite well to subs: There's no replacement for displacement. Be it one big driver or an array of many smaller drivers, as Robert has already stated, concern yourself mainly with proper amplification & calibration. On a related...

I appreciate the quick responses. Ignoring the details, a brief discussion was had when I got home from work last night; I was put on the spot and picked longevity over black level. The house will be getting the 55" Sony X900F, but my purchase has been pushed off into the indeterminate...

I completely passed on the plasma & LED/LCD waves (so I could finally finish my degree), and it looks like my rusty/trusty old Toshiba 50HX81 rptv is now showing signs that a failure may be close-at-hand. I've done a bit of reading here and elsewhere, so now I'm posting to get some...
