Thanks all....just a quick followup. I was able to resolve my issue by a firmware update to my TV. Evidently, there is an issue on the HDMI side when content goes through an AV receiver to the display which is remedied by the update.

While I certainly do not disagree...we DO NOT need the absurd stupidity such as burping frogs (RotJ) and JarJar Binks-type characters to try to appease kids just for it's own sake. They should be making a movie with a story line that appeals to a general audience...not the lowest common...

Shane, I recently (in September) bought a brand new Onkyo 606 receiver for all the same reasons you are looking for! I have to tell ya...this is the receiver you want! It has sufficient HDMI inputs and does throughput to the TV so you can still hear the sound through the TV's speakers instead...
